As the Paralegal at our Melbourne Headquarters, you will provide comprehensive paralegal and administrative support to the Credit Union’s Legal Department to ensure effective legal operations, regulatory compliance, risk mitigation, and governance support. Assists with contractual review, litigation matters, corporate governance, regulatory responses, and internal legal requests to protect the Credit Union’s legal interests and support business objectives.

Paralegal Key Responsibilities
- Create eye-catching visual assets for various marketing materials including digital ads, social media posts, email campaigns, print materials, brochures, flyers, posters, banners, and signage for events and promotions.
- Supports the Legal Department in the management of legal matters affecting the Credit Union, including contract review and administration, litigation support, regulatory inquiries, governance documentation, and compliance‑related projects.
- Assists with drafting, reviewing, and organizing a variety of legal documents, including contracts, service agreements, NDAs, subpoenas, writs, garnishments, POAs, demand letters, pleadings, discovery responses, settlement documentation, resolutions, and internal memoranda.
- Manages contract lifecycle processes, including intake, tracking, organization, renewals, amendments, and termination dates. Maintains centralized legal and contract files to ensure accuracy, accessibility, and compliance with document retention requirements.
- Provides litigation and dispute support by organizing case files, coordinating with outside counsel, preparing factual summaries, tracking deadlines, assisting with discovery responses, and supporting document production and subpoena compliance.
- Supports regulatory and compliance matters by assisting with responses to examinations, audits, and regulatory requests; organizing supporting documentation; and coordinating information flow between Legal, Risk, Compliance, and Operations.
- Coordinates with internal departments and external parties (outside counsel, regulators, vendors, courts, and governmental agencies) to ensure timely and accurate handling of legal matters.
- Assists with special projects, process improvement initiatives, and administrative functions within the Legal Department as assigned.
Paralegal Requirements:
Education and Training
- 5+ years of paralegal or legal administrative experience required.
- Experience in financial services, civil law, credit unions, banking, regulatory compliance, or corporate legal environments strongly preferred.
Prior Experience:
- Working knowledge of contracts, civil litigation, probate law, bankruptcy law, corporate governance, and regulatory processes.
- Familiarity with financial institution operations, compliance programs, and regulatory agencies preferred.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- High degree of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with management, legal counsel, regulators, and internal stakeholders.
- Ability to analyze information and organize complex records.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and document management systems.
- Demonstrated judgment, discretion, and professionalism.
