Full Job Description

SMG Corporate Services is committed to attracting, hiring, and retaining a highly qualified workforce while maintaining compliance with all applicable federal, state, and client-specific requirements. We are seeking a detail-oriented and professional Recruitment Screening Specialist to support recruiting, candidate screening, onboarding, and compliance activities throughout the hiring process.

The Recruitment Screening Specialist supports the recruitment and onboarding process by conducting candidate screenings, verifying qualifications, coordinating interviews, monitoring compliance requirements, and facilitating onboarding activities. The position serves as a key liaison between candidates, hiring managers, Human Resources, and operations teams to ensure timely and compliant hiring practices. This position is based in Hartford, Connecticut and may require occasional travel to support other office locations.

Essential Functions

Review employment applications and resumes for completeness and qualification requirements.
Conduct telephone and virtual candidate screenings.
Coordinate and schedule interviews with hiring managers and candidates.
Collect, verify, and maintain candidate documentation, including licensing, certifications, and identification materials.
Maintain accurate records within the Applicant Tracking System (ATS).
Communicate professionally with applicants regarding application status, onboarding requirements, and next steps.
Coordinate pre-employment screening activities, including background checks and reference verifications.
Facilitate onboarding activities and monitor completion of onboarding requirements.
Collaborate with Human Resources and Operations teams to ensure compliance with company, client, and regulatory requirements.
Support recruiting initiatives, job fairs, and hiring events.
Maintain vacancy tracking and staffing schedules.
Assist with uniform ordering and inventory management.
Provide administrative support to the district office, including reception and general office duties.
Participate in training, orientation, and other Human Resources initiatives.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Required QualificationsEducation

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree preferred.

Experience

One (1) to two (2) years of experience in recruitment, talent acquisition, human resources, or a related field.
Experience in a regulated industry, security services, law enforcement, healthcare, or similar environment is preferred.

Language Requirement

Bilingual English and Spanish proficiency is required. Candidates must be able to speak, read, write, and understand both English and Spanish sufficiently to communicate effectively with applicants, employees, clients, and business partners, and to perform the essential functions of the position, including conducting candidate screenings, explaining employment-related information, responding to inquiries, and reviewing or preparing work-related documents in both languages. This language proficiency requirement is based on the business needs of the position and the populations served.
