Full Job Description

Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Specimen Accessioner/Data Entry specialist to join our laboratory team. This role is essential for ensuring accurate processing and documentation of specimens within a clinical or research laboratory setting. The ideal candidate will possess strong laboratory management skills, familiarity with laboratory techniques, and experience with specimen collection and processing. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to vital healthcare and research operations while working in a fast-paced environment that values precision and efficiency.

Duties

Accurately accession and label specimens following established laboratory procedures
Enter specimen data into laboratory information systems with high accuracy and attention to detail
Verify specimen identification against requisition forms using medical terminology and anatomy knowledge
Maintain proper aseptic techniques during specimen handling to prevent contamination
Assist with specimen collection, processing, and preparation for testing or analysis
Ensure proper storage and transportation of specimens according to safety protocols
Support laboratory management by organizing and maintaining specimen logs and records
Follow safety guidelines, including basic life support (BLS) procedures, to respond effectively to emergencies

Qualifications

Prior experience in a clinical or research laboratory environment preferred, including familiarity with laboratory procedures and medical terminology
Knowledge of physiology and anatomy terminology is a plus
Experience with specimen collection/processing desirable
Strong attention to detail with excellent data entry skills and accuracy in record keeping
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of quality and safety
Basic understanding of laboratory management practices and aseptic techniques
Certification or training in basic life support (BLS) is advantageous
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively

This position plays a vital role within our healthcare facility by ensuring the integrity of specimens and the accuracy of data. We welcome candidates committed to precision, safety, and the support of critical laboratory functions.

Pay: $21.75 - $24.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
