- Be in charge of the estimate department

- Knowledge with Bluebeam - Procore-Autocad - Plan Hub

- Education in Engineering-Architecture is a PLUS.

Position Summary:

The Senior Project Estimator is responsible for leading the estimating process for commercial and residential glazing, window, curtain wall, storefront, and door projects. This position analyzes project plans and specifications, prepares accurate cost estimates, manages bid proposals, and collaborates with project managers, architects, general contractors, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure competitive and profitable bids.

The ideal candidate possesses extensive knowledge of the glass and glazing industry, strong analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple estimates simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.

Key Responsibilities Estimating & Preconstruction:

Review project drawings, specifications, contracts, and bid documents.
Perform quantity takeoffs for storefront systems, curtain walls, windows, doors, glass, railings, and specialty glazing products.
Develop detailed labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor cost estimates.
Analyze project risks, constructability issues, and potential cost-saving opportunities.
Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotations.
Prepare comprehensive bid proposals and pricing packages.
Participate in value engineering efforts and alternative product recommendations.
Maintain accurate estimating databases and historical cost information.

Project Coordination

Work closely with Project Managers during project handoff to ensure scope, pricing, and assumptions are clearly communicated.
Attend pre-bid meetings, job walks, and client meetings as required.
Clarify project scope with architects, consultants, owners, and general contractors.
Assist in contract reviews and negotiations when necessary.

Business Development Support

Build and maintain relationships with general contractors, developers, architects, and suppliers.
Support business development initiatives by identifying bidding opportunities.
Assist management with budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning.

Leadership

Mentor and train junior estimators and estimating staff.
Establish estimating standards, procedures, and best practices.
Provide technical guidance regarding glazing systems, installation methods, and industry standards.

Experience

7+ years of estimating experience in the glass, glazing, windows, doors, curtain wall, or building envelope industry.
Proven experience estimating commercial glazing projects ranging from $500,000 to $10+ million.
Strong understanding of storefront, curtain wall, window wall, impact-resistant glazing, aluminum systems, and specialty glass products.

Technical Skills

Proficiency with estimating software such as Bluebeam, Plan Hub, Quickbooks
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and shop drawings.
Familiarity with Florida Building Code, Miami-Dade NOA requirements, and hurricane-impact glazing systems.
Knowledge of project scheduling and construction sequencing.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with high-rise residential, hospitality, healthcare, educational, and commercial projects.
Knowledge of fabrication and installation processes for glazing systems.
Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
