Pastry Chef (Macaron Production)

Bayonne, NJ
Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm

Job Overview
We are looking for a skilled and reliable Pastry Chef to join our team at Izzy Macarons.

This role is focused on macaron production, including preparing shells, managing batches, and ensuring consistency in quality and appearance. You will play a key role in maintaining production standards and supporting daily operations in a fast-paced bakery environment.

Responsibilities

Prepare and bake macaron shells with consistency and precision
Manage daily production batches and timelines
Mix batters, pipe shells, and monitor baking process
Ensure color accuracy and quality standards are met
Troubleshoot production issues (humidity, texture, etc.)
Maintain a clean and organized workspace
Assist with general production when needed

Requirements

Proven experience in baking or pastry production (macarons experience preferred)
Strong understanding of baking techniques and consistency control
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and presentation
Reliable, punctual, and proactive
Ability to work independently and take ownership of production

Trial / Test Requirement

As part of the hiring process, selected candidates will be invited for a paid trial shift.

During this trial, you will:

Prepare and pipe macaron shells
Work with our recipe and equipment
Demonstrate consistency, organization, and speed
Show ability to follow instructions and adapt to our production style

This trial allows us to evaluate technical skills, attention to detail, and overall fit within our team.

Candidates should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and open to feedback during the process.

Pay: $19.00 - $23.00 per hour
