Job Summary- (**Position requires availability for a 5:00 AM start time.**)
We are seeking a passionate, creative and experienced Cake Decorator & Baker to join our vibrant culinary team! This role is ideal for someone with a passion for attention to detail and a strong understanding of bakery operations in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment. This role will be responsible for designing and decorating cakes, maintaining visual and quality standards, managing production schedules, and working closely with staff to ensure consistency and excellence across all bakery offerings.

Cake Decorating

Design and decorate cakes, pastries, and desserts according to franchise and customer standards. Follow established recipes and portion sizes for consistency.
Assemble, ice, and finish cakes with piping, writing, borders, and custom designs.
Maintain a clean, organized, and food-safe workstation at all times.
Monitor product freshness, rotate inventory, and report low stock to management.
Assist with general bakery tasks such as prepping ingredients, cleaning equipment, and supporting team members as needed.
Ensure all items meet franchise quality, presentation, and safety standards.
Communicate effectively with team members about orders, deadlines, and special requests.
Ensure product consistency, portioning, and visual appeal

Baking Operations

Oversee and execute daily production of breads, pastries, and bakery items according to franchise recipes and standards.
Prepare doughs, batters, and fillings following franchise recipes
Ensure proper proofing, baking, and cooling techniques
Maintain daily baking schedules and inventory needs
Manage oven and equipment use for efficient production
Monitor product quality and ensure visual and taste standards are met.
Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, equipment, and storage areas.
Assist with tracking waste, report production issues, and identify opportunities to improve workflow.
Support the onboarding and development of new bakers and production staff.
Collaborate with management regarding product feedback, operational needs, and scheduling.

Team Leadership

Assist with opening and closing procedures for the kitchen
Maintain cleanliness and compliance with health and safety standards
Monitor product quality, waste, and efficiency
Communicate with store manager on production goals and supply orders

Qualifications:

2+ years of experience in cake decorating and baking (Willing to train with less experience)
Strong skills in piping, sponge, mousse, and finishing work
Experience in managing bakery production schedules
Ability to lead a team and train junior staff
Familiarity with commercial bakery equipment and food safety procedures
Excellent attention to detail and time management
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work early mornings or weekends as needed
Franchise or branded bakery experience preferred

Skills

Proficient in food production techniques, particularly in baking and pastry preparation.
Strong knowledge of food handling practices and food safety regulations.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment while maintaining attention to detail.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with team members.
Previous experience in catering or high-volume kitchen settings is preferred but not required.
