Full Job Description

Join One of the Central Valley's Fastest-Growing Dermatology Practices

Central Valley Skin Specialists is seeking an experienced Patient Access Coordinator to join our award-winning, rapidly growing dermatology practice. We are looking for a dedicated healthcare professional with prior experience in referral coordination, insurance verification, patient scheduling, and front office operations who is committed to delivering exceptional service and helping patients access high-quality dermatologic care.

As the first point of contact for many of our patients, you will play a critical role in ensuring a seamless patient experience while coordinating referrals, verifying insurance, scheduling appointments, and supporting the daily operations of our busy dermatology practice.

Responsibilities Referral Coordination

Process incoming and outgoing referrals accurately and efficiently.
Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, and referral requirements.
Obtain prior authorizations for medications, procedures, and specialty services.
Coordinate with referring providers, insurance companies, and patients to ensure timely access to care.
Monitor referral work queues and follow up on outstanding referrals and authorizations.
Review referrals for completeness and ensure patients are scheduled appropriately.

Scheduling & Insurance

Schedule new and established patient appointments.
Coordinate surgical and procedural appointments.
Verify insurance coverage prior to appointments.
Assist patients with appointment questions, insurance requirements, and referral status.
Optimize provider schedules while maintaining excellent patient service.

Front Office Responsibilities

Welcome patients with professionalism and compassion.
Check patients in and out using our electronic medical record (EMR) system.
Collect and update patient demographic and insurance information.
Answer incoming phone calls and respond to patient inquiries.
Maintain accurate patient records while ensuring HIPAA compliance.
Collaborate closely with providers and clinical staff to maintain an efficient workflow.

Required Qualifications

Minimum of two years of experience in a medical office is required.
Previous experience with referral coordination, insurance verification, prior authorizations, and patient scheduling is required.
Strong understanding of commercial insurance, Medicare, Medi-Cal, HMO, PPO, referrals, and authorization processes.
Experience using an electronic medical record (EMR) system.
Excellent organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Professional, dependable, and committed to outstanding customer service.

Preferred Qualifications

Dermatology experience is highly preferred.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
