Job Summary

We are seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Alterations Tailor to join our dynamic fashion retail team. In this role, you will be responsible for customizing and tailoring garments to meet our customers’ unique specifications, ensuring a perfect fit and exceptional quality. Your expertise in garment sewing, pressing, and garment construction will help deliver outstanding service and elevate our customers’ shopping experience. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with a variety of fabrics and styles, transforming clothing to match individual preferences with precision and care.

Responsibilities

Perform alterations on a wide range of garments, including hemming, taking in or letting out seams, and resizing clothing items.
Use sewing machines, hand sewing techniques, and pressing machines to achieve high-quality finishes.
Operate pressing machines safely and efficiently to press garments for a polished appearance.
Consult with customers to understand their alteration needs and provide expert advice on garment adjustments.
Ensure all garments are constructed according to specifications, maintaining consistency in stitching and garment construction standards.
Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including proper handling of sewing tools and pressing equipment.
Assist in the production of custom apparel by following detailed measurements and sewing instructions, ensuring timely completion of each order.

Skills

Proven experience in fashion retail or garment alterations with strong sewing skills.
Proficiency in using sewing machines, hand sewing tools, and pressing machines.
Knowledge of garment construction techniques and fabric handling.
Ability to perform precise stitching, hemming, and fitting adjustments.
Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly about alteration options.
Basic math skills for measuring fabrics, taking accurate measurements, and calculating adjustments.
Familiarity with pressing operations and maintaining press equipment safely.
