Full Job Description

Excavator Operator – Demolition

Peak Demolition & Environmental, Inc. is seeking an experienced Excavator Operator to join our demolition team. This position is ideal for someone who takes pride in running equipment safely and efficiently, understands demolition work, and is willing to be part of the crew both inside and outside of the cab.

This is a travel-heavy position, with travel required approximately 95% of the time. Applicants must be dependable, safety-minded, and willing to work as part of a team on demolition projects throughout the region.

Position Summary

The Excavator Operator will be responsible for operating excavators and attachments on demolition projects, including structural demolition, selective demolition, material handling, sorting, loading, and site cleanup. Experience running a shear attachment is strongly preferred.

The right candidate will understand that demolition requires more than just operating equipment. We are looking for someone who is willing to get out of the machine when needed and help team members on the ground with jobsite tasks, cleanup, rigging, loading, spotting, and general support.

Responsibilities

Operate excavators and demolition attachments safely and efficiently.

Perform demolition work including structural demolition, selective demolition, sorting, loading, and cleanup.

Operate or assist with hydraulic shears, grapples, buckets, breakers, and other attachments.

Inspect equipment daily and report maintenance or safety concerns.

Work closely with foremen, laborers, truck drivers, and other equipment operators.

Assist ground crews when not operating equipment.

Load trucks, sort debris, separate materials, and maintain a clean and safe jobsite.

Follow company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and jobsite-specific safety procedures.

Travel to out-of-town projects as required.

Represent the company professionally with clients, contractors, inspectors, and other trades.

Requirements

Minimum 5 years of excavator operating experience required.

Demolition experience required.

Experience running a hydraulic shear is strongly preferred.

Must be willing to travel approximately 95% of the time.

Reliable transportation is required.

Must be willing to get out of equipment and help the crew on the ground when needed.

Must be able to work safely around structures, debris, trucks, people, and other equipment.

Must be dependable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team.

Must be able to follow directions from supervisors and communicate clearly.

Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Must be able to pass any required pre-employment screening.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with structural demolition.

Experience with hydraulic shears, processors, grapples, breakers, and magnets.

Experience loading trucks and sorting materials.

Mechanical knowledge and ability to perform basic equipment checks.

OSHA 10, OSHA 30, or other safety training is a plus.

CDL is a plus, but not required.

Travel & Per Diem

This position requires travel approximately 95% of the time.

Hotel/lodging will be provided when required for out-of-town work.

Per diem is provided on certain jobs, depending on project location and requirements.
