Position Summary
**Foreman is required to travel depending on the jobsite location**
The HVAC Construction Foreman is responsible for supervising and coordinating the daily field installation of commercial HVAC systems. The Foreman leads the field crew, coordinates with other trades and the Project Manager, ensures work is installed according to plans and specifications, maintains productivity and quality, and helps keep the project on schedule.
The ideal candidate has strong hands-on commercial HVAC experience, leadership skills, the ability to read mechanical drawings, and a thorough understanding of HVAC installation and construction practices.
Key Responsibilities
Field Supervision
Supervise and lead HVAC installers, technicians, helpers, and subcontracted field personnel.
Assign daily tasks and responsibilities to crew members.
Coordinate manpower and materials to maintain productivity and project schedules.
Monitor daily progress and communicate updates to the Project Manager.
Ensure crews have the tools, equipment, materials, and information required to perform their work.
Train and provide direction to less experienced employees.
HVAC Installation
Supervise installation of commercial HVAC systems, including ductwork, air distribution systems, equipment, and related components.
Interpret and work from mechanical plans, shop drawings, specifications, and installation details.
Ensure ductwork and HVAC equipment are installed correctly and according to approved plans.
Verify dimensions, elevations, equipment locations, duct routing, and field conditions before installation.
Coordinate installation of VAV boxes, diffusers, grilles, louvers, dampers, flex duct, insulation, and other HVAC components.
Coordinate equipment setting and installation with other trades.
Identify conflicts or unforeseen field conditions and communicate them to the Project Manager.
Coordination
Coordinate daily activities with the General Contractor, Superintendent, other trades, and site personnel.
Attend jobsite coordination meetings when required.
Coordinate HVAC work around electrical, plumbing, structural, fire protection, and other trades.
Verify that areas are ready before beginning HVAC installation.
Communicate material shortages, design conflicts, schedule issues, and additional work requirements promptly.
Quality Control
Inspect completed work to ensure proper installation, workmanship, alignment, support, and sealing.
Ensure ductwork and HVAC installations comply with project specifications, applicable codes, and company standards.
Verify that installed work matches approved drawings and submittals.
Identify and correct deficiencies before inspections.
Assist with testing, startup, commissioning, balancing, and punch-list completion.
Safety
Enforce company and project-specific safety requirements.
Conduct or participate in daily toolbox talks and safety meetings.
Ensure employees use required PPE and follow safe work practices.
Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Immediately report accidents, unsafe conditions, and safety concerns to management.
Materials & Equipment
Monitor jobsite inventory and material usage.
Verify deliveries and ensure materials are properly stored and protected.
Notify the Project Manager of material shortages or damaged/missing materials.
Minimize material waste and maintain proper organization of tools and equipment.
Documentation & Communication
Complete daily reports and document manpower, progress, deliveries, inspections, and jobsite issues when required.
Take photographs of important project conditions and completed work when required.
Communicate daily production and schedule information to the Project Manager.
Document field changes and additional work that may require a change order.
Assist the Project Manager with punch lists and project closeout.
Qualifications
2+ years of commercial HVAC installation experience preferred.
Previous experience as an HVAC Foreman or Lead Installer preferred.
Strong knowledge of commercial HVAC construction and installation.
Ability to read and interpret mechanical plans and shop drawings.
