Full Job Description

POSITION: Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant

POSITION SUMMARY: Provides mid-level medical services under protocol of physician preceptors. Provides education programs to patients/families. Assists with Quality Improvement and other clinical programs as requested. Full Time Only

POSITION REPORTS TO: Physicians and Practice Administrator.

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED: Graduate of an approved Nurse Practitioner program (Women’s Health) with MSN degree required. Current RN licensure by applicable State Board of Nursing. Certification according to the requirements of the nursing specialty area or Graduate of an approved Physician Assistant program with applicable licensure and certification.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE PREFERRED: One (1) year of relevant Women's Health Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant experience preferred.

PHYSICIAN DEMANDS: Stoop, carry, bend, reach, sit and/or stand for long periods of time. Visual acuity and ability to distinguish colors. Lifting of 20 pounds or more. Transfer/mobilize patients.

REQUIRED PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT: Adhere to universal precautions and OSHA guidelines.

ESSENTIAL POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Provides mid-level medical services to patients in the office. Determines presumptive diagnoses, plan of care, course of care and discharge planning as needed with supervision of sponsoring physician.

Provides clinical services adhering to protocols in the following categories: patient assessment, clinical procedures within scope of services and certification, patient care management; as measured by physician observation and random chart review.
Complete chart entries on each patient according to established protocols; measured by random chart review by physicians according to established protocols.
Prescribes prescription to patient or pharmacy according to established protocol as measured through random chart review by supervisor and feedback from pharmacy.
Provides counseling and patient/family education.
Instructs patient/family of prevention measures and disease management; as measured by physician observation and feedback from patient/family.
Identifies and documents patient needs and acts as a resource to patient/family to facilitate access to ancillary services as measured through random chart review by physicians.
Demonstrates knowledge of the stages of human growth and development.
Demonstrates knowledge of issues, fears, activities and communication needs for specific age groups.

Responds immediately and appropriately in emergency situations.

Ensures appropriate use/disposal of supplies and equipment.

Ensures compliance with regulatory organizations such as CLIA and OSHA, etc.
Complies with all internal and external policies, procedures, and regulations concerning safety, infection control, and universal precautions.
Uses supplies and equipment appropriately. Avoids waste and duplication.

Practices good communications and interpersonal skills. Communicates problems and concerns to physicians and office manager in a timely manner.

Performs other duties as assigned or requested.

Adheres to attendance and tardiness policy.
