JOB OPENING

Position: Bookkeeper

Details at a Glance

TIME COMMITMENT: Full-time, 40 Hours / Week.
LOCATION: Northwest side of Chicago, near Central and Foster.
REQUIREMENTS:
Pass background check
Pass Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE)
Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record
HS Diploma
Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting preferred
Data entry
Bookkeeping experience
Time management
Sage / Accpac User preferred
WAGE: Negotiable depending on experience.

Who We Need:

We are seeking a detail-oriented, communicative, and collaboration-oriented team player to fulfill the Full-Time position as Bookkeeper. This team member would be comfortable completing multiple tasks in a timely manner and other duties as assigned.

What You’ll Do:

The Bookkeeper reports directly to the Finance and Accounting Manager. As the Bookkeeper, you will be responsible for managing and performing the general bookkeeping for a non-profit organization. You will assist with the completion of ledger accounts and financial statements; provide help with financial functions including processing payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, banking transactions; prepare financial reports for management such as cash flow reports, aging schedules; process tax payments, quarterly and unemployment reports; perform account analysis and audit schedules.

Core Job Responsibilities

- Process vendor invoices, form w9s, employee expense reports

- Process cash receipts

- May assist with processing check runs

- Process payroll runs

- Review A/R and A/R aging and follow up with clients or vendors as necessary to resolve open items

- Assist with 1099 processing

- Assist with bank reconciliations, and other tasks

- Research transactions and assist with resolutions of reconciling items

- May assist with preparing monthly bank reconciliation and other G/L reconciliations

- Provide support for external audit requests

- Maintain files and compliance records

- Complete tasks in a timely and efficient manner to meet month-end close deadlines

- Other duties, as assigned

Job Qualifications

- High School degree

- Prior accounting / bookkeeping experience is preferred

- Accurate, efficient data entry skills

- Proficient with MS Office, particularly Word and Excel

- Detail-oriented and highly organized

- Strong time-management skills

- Hold self-accountable for accurately completing tasks on time

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team

- Self-starter that is eager to learn new skills and take on progressively larger responsibilities

- Strong analytical skills

- Passionate about helping not-for-profits succeed
