POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direct supervision of the association Sports Director, the Sports Coordinator plays a vital role in organizing, coordinating, and overseeing all sports, Ninja, and sports league programs tailored specifically for preschool-adults. This position is responsible for creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment that promotes physical fitness, teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal growth among participants. Sports Coordinator will work closely with young athletes, parents, and other staff members to ensure the success and positive impact of the sports programs. In Addition, as with all staff and volunteers the position is responsible for acting as an ambassador for the YMCA of Greater Nashua, at all times.
This position serves as an operational partner to the Sports Director and plays an important role in ensuring that programs are appropriately staffed, organized, promoted, and delivered consistently. The Sports Coordinator will work closely with participants, families, coaches, instructors, volunteers, community partners, and YMCA staff to create positive experiences that promote physical fitness, teamwork, sportsmanship, confidence, and personal growth.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Program Development
· Assist in the development, planning, implementation, and evaluation of a variety of sports, Ninja, league, camp, and specialty programs for preschool, youth, teens, and adults.
· Develop program schedules, curriculum, and lesson plans to provide a well-rounded sports experience
· Responsible for leading a variety of traditional and innovative sports programs, ensuring that programs promote the YMCA mission and its values. Examples of but not limited to these are: Summer Camp, leagues, tournaments, special needs groups, one on one athlete training, small- large group athletic/team training, classes, special events etc.
· Helps to expand programs through enrollment growth and new initiatives.
· Work with the Association Sports Director to ensure sports programs deliver a high quality experience and value to program Participants.
· Help run, organize, and lead ALL Sports Summer Camp Programs, and Vacation Camp Programs.
· Help organize and run all youth and adult sports leagues.
· Participate in regular program reviews and make recommendations for improvements based on participation data, participant feedback, and community needs.
Participant Engagement
- Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment that encourages teenagers and youth to participate in sports programming.
- Promote teamwork, sportsmanship, and fair play among participant.
- Respond to participant and parent questions and concerns in a timely, professional, and service-oriented manner.
Instruction and Coaching
· Provide coaching and instruction to participants for various sports classes including but not limited to Ninja Warrior, basketball, soccer, and pickleball. All while focusing on skill development, technique, strategy and FUN!
· Organize and lead practices, drills, and training sessions.
· Effective Group Management Skills
· Serve as a role model of strong character in word and action for members, staff and the community
while actively participating in activities, as needed.
Safety and Supervision
· Ensure the safety of all participants by enforcing safety rules and guidelines.
· Supervise and monitor participants during sports activities and events.
· Follow all YMCA emergency procedures, child protection policies, risk management practices, and applicable regulations.
Communication
· Maintain open and effective communication with parents, guardians, and participants providing updates on programs, activities, and progress.
· Collaborate with marking team to help promote sports offerings.
· Communicate with outside teams and organizations to help bring sports leagues to the next level.
· Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with other community organizations.
· Communicate all YMCA rules and ensure that you are accessible and identifiable.
· Performs all other duties as assigned by the Sports Director and/or Senior Program Director
Equipment and Facility Management
· Inventory, maintain, and organize all sports equipment and supplies.
· Ensure the cleanliness and proper maintenance of sports areas.
· Event Planning
· Organize and coordinate sports events, tournaments, leagues for all ages athletes.
· Mange logistics, scheduling, and participant registration for events/classes.
· Assist with developing and implementing new sports events and league opportunities
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Minimum of 18+
· Reliable transportation
· Previous experience in coaching and organizing youth and teen sports programs.
· Knowledge of various sports and their rules.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
· First Aid and CPR certifications (or willingness to obtain).
· Enthusiasm for working with teens and youth promoting physical and personal development.
· Organizational and administrative skills for program planning and management.
· A love of sports and the power of play
· A desire to grow in an organization that serves youth and families in its community.
· Ability to lift 50 pounds
· Team player with a positive, service-oriented attitude
· Outgoing personality and strong customer service skills.
· 20+ hours of direct service
· This position will require evening and weekend work to accommodate program schedules and events.

Pay: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour
