Full Job Description

Community Health Alliance (CHA) is looking for a full-time MD/DO. The position is responsible for diagnosing and treating a variety of diseases and injuries as a member of a Care Team in a Family Practice setting, providing comprehensive, outpatient medical services for individuals and families on a continuing basis.

CHA is a federally qualified health care facility (FQHC) located in Reno, Nevada with six clinics located throughout the community.

We provide an extensive range of healthcare screening and prevention services, comprehensive primary care for all ages, pharmacy, pediatric dental services, management of chronic diseases, outreach to and services for homeless individuals and families, and behavioral health care. In addition, Community Health Alliance manages a Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program. As a FQHC, we also provide community education on health issues and outreach to underserved populations.

CHA paid pension plan at 5% of earnings after one year of service; no employee match

Job Description: The Family Medicine Physician is responsible for diagnosing and treating a variety of diseases and injuries as a Care Team member in a Family Medicine and Patient-Center Medical Home (PCMH) model setting; provides comprehensive, outpatient medical services for individuals and families on a continuing basis; and, may, at certain locations, provide a continuum of care into inpatient and/or residential settings.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of the essential functions, practices and procedures of a medical clinic and office
Knowledge of CPT and ICD-9/10-CM coding
Knowledge of and ability to diagnose and treat a variety of diseases and injuries in a Family Medicine model setting, acting as part of a Care Team that is assigned to an empanelled patient group.
Knowledge of, skills related to and ability to treat medical and surgical emergencies
Skill in operating personal computer utilizing word processing, databases and e-mail
Skill in operating various office equipment: calculator, copy machine, fax machine, and telephone
Skill in operating various medical office equipment, such as; EKG machine, pulse oximeter, nebulizer, spirometer, audiology, sterilizers, etc.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of information, patient financial and medical information
Ability to read, write legibly, calculate mathematical figures and medication doses
Ability to solve practical problems dealing with a variety of variables as a Care Team member
Ability to exercise good judgment in appraising situations and making decisions
Ability to work and interact effectively and positively with other staff members in a Care Team structure to build and to enhance teamwork in the clinics and overall CHA's organization
Ability to communicate in a courteous and professional manner
Ability to interview and communicate either in person of with an interpreter with patients in a clinical setting in Spanish
Ability to understand and respond appropriately, effectively and sensitively to special population groups as defined by race, ethnicity, language, age, sex, etc.
Ability to hear and speak to converse over telephone and interview patients
Ability to see to accurately calculate and administer doses of medication and perform physical exams
Ability to lift up to 20 pounds on a frequent basis

Education and Experience: Graduate of an accredited medical school and Board certified in a specific medical specialty. Must be licensed in the State of Nevada.
