Full Job Description

Location: Newnan, GA 30265
Shift: Day / Night shift (based on production needs)

Position Summary

HBH Precision Manufacturing is hiring a CNC Machine Operator to support precision gear production for automotive applications. This role runs CNC equipment, performs first-piece and in-process inspections, and supports daily production output and quality requirements. Hands-on experience with gear manufacturing (hobbing, shaping, grinding, honing, shaving, or gear-related turning) is required.

Key Responsibilities

Set up and operate CNC machines used in gear manufacturing, such as CNC lathes, hobbing machines, gear grinders, shaving/honing machines, and related equipment (depending on your experience).
Load/unload parts, verify part orientation, and follow work instructions, control plans, and inspection requirements.
Perform first article and in-process inspections using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, height gauges, and indicators.
Record inspection results and production counts accurately (paper or digital logs).
Monitor tool wear, change inserts/cutters when needed, and make basic offset adjustments to maintain tolerances.
Identify quality issues (surface finish, burrs, runout, size drift, profile/lead concerns where applicable) and escalate to lead/engineering as needed.
Support 5S, safety, and housekeeping standards; follow lockout/tagout and shop safety procedures.
Assist with continuous improvement activities (scrap reduction, cycle time improvement, tool life tracking).

Required Qualifications

2+ years CNC machining experience, preferably in automotive or precision manufacturing.
Gear manufacturing experience required (examples: hobbing, shaving, grinding, honing, shaping, gear inspection, gear-related turning operations).
Ability to read and follow engineering drawings, work instructions, and basic GD&T.
Comfortable using measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges) and documenting results.
Ability to make basic machine adjustments (offset changes, tool changes, part changeovers).
Strong attendance, attention to detail, and willingness to learn.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience on gear-machining equipment.
Experience with gear inspection tools (gear checker, CMM, profile/lead charts, runout checks).
Knowledge of cutting tools and tool life management for gear cutting.
Forklift or crane/hoist experience.

Physical Requirements

Able to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs (with assistance/tools as needed).
Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment (noise, oil/coolant, metal chips).
