RB Performance Garage is a family based fast growing and expanding performance garage and looking for an experienced automotive welder and performance fabricator to join our expanding team.
This position is for someone capable of handling everything from custom exhaust systems to manifolds, intercooler piping, and complete fabricated turbo kits. The work will involve creating new, vehicle-specific performance components from the planning and mockup stage through final welding, fitment, and completion.
This is not a general welding or repair position. We are not looking for someone to repair broken exhausts, damaged components, or low-quality fabrication from other shops. The primary focus of this position is building new custom performance parts and complete fabrication systems.
Primary Responsibilities
- Fabricate complete custom exhaust systems
- Build headers, downpipes, midpipes, axle-back systems, dump tubes, and exhaust transitions
- Fabricate custom turbo manifolds and exhaust manifolds
- Build complete custom single-turbo and twin-turbo systems
- Fabricate intake piping, charge piping, intercooler piping, and air-routing systems
- Build custom wastegate and blow-off valve piping
- Install flanges, collectors, bungs, brackets, hangers, sensors, and supporting hardware
- Measure, cut, fit, mock up, tack, weld, and finish custom components
- Design vehicle-specific fabrication layouts where premade systems are unavailable
- Confirm proper component clearance, engine movement allowance, heat control, alignment, and serviceability
- Produce clean, strong, properly penetrated, and professional-quality welds
- Complete projects efficiently without sacrificing fitment or workmanship
- Communicate material, design, and fitment requirements with the RB Performance Garage team
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized fabrication area
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Previous automotive welding and fabrication experience
- Strong experience building complete custom exhaust systems
- Experience fabricating turbo manifolds and complete turbo kits
- Strong TIG welding ability is highly preferred
- MIG welding experience is also beneficial
- Experience working with stainless steel, mild steel, aluminum, titanium, and other automotive materials
- Experience back-purging stainless-steel piping when required
- Ability to properly fit, tack, and weld tubing, pie cuts, bends, collectors, and transitions
- Ability to work accurately from measurements, mockups, templates, or custom layouts
- Understanding of exhaust flow, turbo placement, wastegate priority, heat management, engine movement, and component clearance
- Knowledge of tubing sizes, wall thicknesses, flanges, clamps, flex sections, and fabrication hardware
- Ability to independently plan and complete advanced fabrication projects
- Strong attention to detail and pride in the appearance of finished work
- Automotive performance knowledge is strongly preferred
Equipment and Tool Requirements
This is a bring-your-own-equipment position.
Applicants are expected to provide the welding equipment, fabrication tools, hand tools, measuring equipment, personal protective equipment, and other specialty tools required to perform their work.
All personally owned equipment and tools are brought onto the property, stored, transported, maintained, and operated under the owner’s responsibility and liability.
RB Performance Garage is not responsible for the loss, theft, damage, misuse, maintenance, repair, or replacement of personally owned equipment, except where otherwise required by applicable law or specifically agreed to in writing.
All equipment must be in safe operating condition. Applicants are responsible for using proper personal protective equipment and following all applicable shop, equipment, and workplace safety procedures.
Compensation and Growth Opportunities
Pay will be based on experience, welding quality, fabrication ability, work speed, reliability, and the level of work the applicant can complete independently.
Applicants capable of independently designing and fabricating complete turbo systems, manifolds, intercooler piping, exhaust systems, and other advanced custom components may qualify for higher compensation.
Performance bonuses, pay increases, additional responsibilities, and future opportunities may be available for individuals who consistently exceed quality and productivity expectations.
