Full Job Description

Reports To: Managing Director

Location: On-site (Facility)

Position Overview

The Lab General Manager is the operational backbone of the facility, responsible for keeping everything running smoothly across our Type 6 manufacturing lab and Type 11 distribution operation. This role provides high-level oversight of all departments, ensuring production targets are met, the building is well maintained, inventory records are accurate, and the team is supported, trained, and set up for success. The Lab General Manager works closely with the Managing Director and department leads to create a facility that is productive, compliant, and audit-ready at all times.

Core Responsibilities

1. Departmental Oversight & Process Knowledge

The Lab General Manager provides leadership and support to the individual leads of each department, with a solid working knowledge of each process:

Ice Water Extraction & Fresh Frozen: Oversight of fresh frozen intake, ice water washing, and yield management
Freeze Drying: Oversight of freeze drying cycles, moisture targets, and finished product quality standards
Rosin Pressing: Oversight of press operations, temperature and pressure protocols, and yield tracking
Kitchen & Infusions: Oversight of infusion math, homogenization, dosing accuracy, and food-safety standards
Packaging: Oversight of finished goods packaging, labeling compliance, and order fulfillment readiness
Ensure Department Leads have clear daily targets and the resources they need to hit them

2. Distribution Operations Oversight (Type 11)

Oversee the distribution of both in-house products and third-party brands in compliance with Type 11 license requirements
Ensure all outbound orders are accurately picked, packaged, and documented before leaving the facility
Coordinate with the sales team to align production output with distribution schedules and account needs
Maintain accurate records of all inbound third-party inventory and outbound shipments in METRC
Ensure all distribution vehicles, manifests, and driver protocols meet state regulatory requirements
Serve as the operational bridge between the lab floor and the distribution team to prevent fulfillment bottlenecks

3. Inventory Integrity & Data Verification

Ensure all Department Leads are communicating weights and movements to the Compliance/METRC team in real-time — no end-of-day data dumping
Conduct daily walkthroughs to verify that physical inventory (Raw, WIP, Finished Goods) matches internal tracking sheets
Support the investigation of any weight variances or inventory discrepancies across departments

4. Human Resources & Team Development

Partner with leadership on hiring and onboarding to ensure the facility is always properly staffed with well-trained team members
Support Department Leads in setting clear performance expectations and providing regular feedback to their teams
Foster a positive, professional, and accountable workplace culture where people enjoy coming to work and take pride in their output
Serve as a resource for staff who have concerns or questions, helping to resolve issues fairly and constructively before they escalate

5. Personnel Management & Productivity

Monitor productivity across all departments and work collaboratively with leads to identify and resolve inefficiencies
Ensure OSHA standards and company safety protocols are understood and followed across the entire facility
Support a culture of accountability that feels supportive rather than punitive

6. Facility Maintenance & Sanitation

Ensure the overall physical building is in good repair through daily walkthroughs and proactive identification of maintenance needs
Enforce medical-grade cleanliness standards across the lab, breakrooms, storage areas, and distribution staging areas
Oversee preventative maintenance schedules for all extraction and processing equipment to minimize downtime

7. Security & Facility Access

Conduct daily checks of all security cameras, access control points, and environmental sensors
Manage visitor check-in procedures and ensure all guests are properly logged and escorted
Serve as the primary point of contact for security vendors, maintenance contractors, and service providers
Manage employee access permissions and ensure they are kept current
Report any security incidents or hardware failures to the Managing Director promptly

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Inventory Accuracy: Physical inventory matches internal records at the end of every shift
Production Output: Lab hits daily production quotas across all departments
Distribution Accuracy: All outbound orders leave the facility with accurate manifests and METRC documentation
Data Flow: All floor movements reported to the Compliance lead in real-time with no data lag
Facility Standard: Facility passes all internal cleanliness and sanitation checks daily
Maintenance Uptime: Zero production stoppages due to neglected routine maintenance
Staffing Coverage: 100% scheduled shift coverage with no understaffed production days
Security Compliance: All visitor and vendor logs current and complete with no unauthorized access incidents
Team Development: Regular performance conversations completed on schedule across all departments

Pay: $50,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
