Operations Manager – Precision Machining

Company Overview

Fabriweld Corporation is an established, growth-oriented manufacturing leader in Norwalk, Ohio. We pride ourselves on operational excellence, high-quality production, and a collaborative team environment. We are seeking an experienced, sharp, and proactive Operations Manager to take our machine shop and manufacturing operations to the next level.

Position Summary

As the Operations Manager, you will serve as a critical leader on our management team, reporting directly to the President. This isn't an office-only role. You will be the driving force on the production floor. We need a leader with a sharp technical eye who can look at a live project and instantly recognize the most efficient workflow (for example, knowing exactly when a CNC machine should be pre-staged and running concurrently with manual prep work to minimize downtime).

Key Responsibilities:

Drive Floor Efficiency: Actively monitor live floor operations to eliminate process inefficiencies, optimize machine utilization, and ensure workflows run at peak efficiency.
Production Sequencing & Scheduling: Plan and continuously refine production sequences to maximize production. Partner closely with the scheduling department to meet aggressive customer delivery dates.
Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop our machining personnel. Strategically assign tasks based on operator skill levels and project complexity.
Technical Oversight: Review and interpret complex blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications. Provide high-level oversight for complex multi-axis CNC programming (G/M-code).
Quality & Safety Excellence: Oversee strict quality control protocols to maintain precision tolerances. Ensure a safe, clean workplace adhering to OSHA standards and proper material handling safety.
Cross-Functional Communication: Serve as a seamless communication bridge between floor staff, Engineers, Project Managers, and executive leadership.

Qualifications & Skills:

Experience: 5–7 years of progressive leadership experience in a precision machining or heavy manufacturing environment (e.g., Job Shop Supervisor, Machine Shop Superintendent, Operations Manager).
Technical Expertise: Strong background in CNC programming, tooling selection, advanced metal machining principles, and workflow sequence planning.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred; or equivalent senior-level technical and managerial experience.
Software Skills: Experience with manufacturing ERP/MRP systems (JobBOSS GSS preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite.
Core Competencies: Exceptional spatial and analytical reasoning; ability to spot workflow inefficiencies at a glance; strong math/measurement skills and professional communication abilities.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

Ability to safely navigate, stand, and walk a high-activity industrial manufacturing floor.
Ability to occasionally lift/maneuver tooling or components weighing up to 40 pounds.
Willingness to work hours dictated by production workloads and deadlines (routinely exceeding a standard 40-hour week).
