Glass Enterprises Inc. is seeking a motivated, organized, and detail-oriented Assistant Production Coordinator to join our manufacturing team in Norwich, CT. This position plays an important role in supporting daily production planning activities by assisting with work order releases, production scheduling, material coordination, and workflow optimization.

Position Summary
The Assistant Production Coordinator provides administrative and operational support to the Production Manager in the planning and execution of daily manufacturing activities. This role assists with releasing work orders to the production floor, coordinating material availability, organizing production priorities, and monitoring workflow to help ensure customer orders are produced safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
Essential Responsibilities
- Assist the Production Manager with daily production planning and scheduling activities.
- Release production work orders to the manufacturing floor.
- Review and organize production schedules based on customer priorities, production capacity, and material availability.
- Assist in optimizing production batches to maximize efficiency and material utilization.
- Verify work orders for accuracy and completeness prior to production release.
- Monitor raw material availability and communicate shortages or concerns to the appropriate departments.
- Coordinate with Production, Purchasing, Shipping, Customer Service, and Quality to support daily manufacturing operations.
- Track production progress and communicate potential delays or bottlenecks.
- Maintain accurate production records and update information within the company's ERP system.
- Support inventory accuracy through material verification and reporting.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, workflow, quality, and waste reduction.
- Perform other production coordination and administrative duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree or technical education preferred.
- Manufacturing, production planning, scheduling, logistics, or operations experience is preferred but not required.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Experience with ERP or manufacturing software is a plus.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of production scheduling, material planning, or inventory control.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement principles.
- Experience with insulated glass or architectural glass manufacturing is a plus, but not required.
