Payroll Specialist

Oakland, CA (hybrid)

Are you a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist with accounting experience to support payroll processing and assist with day-to-day accounting functions. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys solving problems, and takes pride in delivering accurate financial data.

Responsibilities

Process bi-weekly or semi-monthly payroll accurately and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Review timesheets, employee records, deductions, benefits, garnishments, and payroll adjustments for accuracy.
Reconcile payroll reports and assist with payroll-related general ledger entries and account reconciliations.
Support accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and month-end close activities.
Respond to employee payroll inquiries and collaborate with HR and Finance teams to maintain accurate employee data.

Qualifications

3+ years of payroll processing experience with a strong understanding of payroll laws, tax regulations, and compliance requirements.
1+ years of accounting, bookkeeping, or general ledger experience.
Experience with payroll software and proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including reconciliations and reporting.
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
