Estimator
Location: Tacoma, WA
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–5:00 PM
Position Type: Full-time, salaried
Annual Salary: $70,000
Expected Hours: Approximately 45–50 hours per week
Company Vehicle: Provided for work use and commuting after satisfactory completion of 90 days

Position Summary
The Estimator reports to the Lead Estimator and meets with customers, assesses project needs, takes site measurements, and prepares accurate proposals for residential and commercial fencing projects. The role coordinates with customers, installers, office staff, and vendors to help keep projects organized, profitable, and completed professionally.
The Estimator also works closely with the Office Manager and Customer Relations Coordinator to ensure estimate details, customer communications, and project information are accurate and complete throughout the project.
Key Responsibilities
· Meet with customers on-site to assess fencing needs, take measurements, and prepare estimates and proposals.
· Determine labor, materials, equipment, and installation requirements for each project.
· Guide customers through fencing options and recommend products that best fit their needs.
· Build and maintain strong customer relationships through clear, professional communication throughout the project.
· Coordinate with installers, office staff, and vendors to support efficient project execution.
· Work under the supervision of the Lead Estimator to review estimates, confirm pricing, clarify scope details, and ensure proposals are complete and accurate before they are submitted to customers.
· Communicate realistic project expectations to customers prior to and during the project.
· Complete and submit paperwork and job documentation accurately and on time.
· Provide limited field support, including emergency service calls or minor repairs, as needed.
· Safely use any hand or power tools required for field support, keep the assigned company vehicle clean and in good working order, and follow all company safety policies.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements
· Valid Washington State driver’s license and an insurable driving record required; no exceptions.
· Willingness to continue developing estimating knowledge, product knowledge, and company procedures through guidance, feedback, and training from the Lead Estimator.
· Minimum of 5 years of fencing installation experience, with strong knowledge of different fence types, materials, installation methods, and field conditions.
· Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, agreements, and job specifications is preferred.
· Strong math skills with the ability to measure accurately and estimate project costs.
· Strong verbal and written communication skills, including accurate paperwork completion.
· Highly organized, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and dependable.
· Ability to build rapport with customers and work collaboratively with team members.
· Ability to communicate effectively in English with customers, vendors, installers, and office staff, both verbally and in writing.
· Ability to work outdoors year-round in a variety of weather conditions.
· Commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and professional conduct.
