Part-Time Voice Instructor

Pay: $34–$43 per hour
Location: Rego Park, Queens, NY 11374
Job Type: Part-time employee (W-2)
Work Location: In person
Anticipated Start: Fall 2026

About the Position

New Song Studio – Queens Music School is seeking a dedicated and engaging Voice Instructor to join our faculty for the upcoming fall semester.

We are an established community music school offering well-maintained teaching rooms, acoustic pianos, recital opportunities, and a warm, professional environment. Our administrative team handles student scheduling, tuition collection, and routine makeup coordination, allowing instructors to focus primarily on teaching and student development.

The studio is conveniently located in Rego Park, approximately a seven-minute walk from the nearest M/R subway station.

Schedule

We are seeking applicants available for one or more recurring weekday afternoon/evening and/or weekend teaching blocks.

Teachers establish an agreed-upon schedule based on their availability and the studio’s enrollment needs. Once established, instructors must be able to maintain a dependable weekly schedule throughout the 2026–2027 academic year.

Responsibilities

Provide engaging weekly private voice lessons to children, teenagers, and adults
Teach healthy, developmentally appropriate vocal technique
Develop individualized lesson plans based on each student’s age, experience, vocal development, interests, and goals
Teach breath coordination, tone production, diction, musicianship, ear training, sight-singing, and music theory as appropriate
Select appropriate and motivating classical, musical-theatre, and contemporary repertoire
Prepare students for studio recitals and other performance opportunities
Guide students preparing for NYSSMA festivals, ABRSM examinations, auditions, and other evaluations when applicable
Maintain punctuality, reliable attendance, and professional communication
Collaborate with studio administrators regarding scheduling, student progress, and parent or student questions

Required Qualifications

Strong knowledge of healthy vocal technique, musicianship, repertoire, and music theory
Relevant voice-teaching experience
Enthusiasm for teaching children and students at a range of levels
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Reliable, punctual, organized, and professional
Ability to maintain a consistent weekly schedule throughout the 2026–2027 academic year

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in vocal performance, music education, vocal pedagogy, or a related field
Advanced undergraduate and graduate music students with strong musicianship and relevant teaching experience are encouraged to apply
Previous private-lesson teaching experience
Experience preparing students for NYSSMA, ABRSM, vocal auditions, or other performance evaluations
Functional piano skills for vocal warm-ups, sight-singing, and basic repertoire coaching
Ability to teach beginning piano is an advantage but is not required

Compensation and Studio Support

$34–$43 per hour, based on education, teaching experience, accompanying ability, and experience preparing students for examinations, festivals, and auditions
Student cancellations paid when covered by the studio’s paid-cancellation policy
Administrative support with student scheduling, tuition collection, and routine makeup coordination
Established student base, with opportunities to add teaching hours as enrollment grows
Collegial, warm, and supportive teaching environment
