Full Job Description

The Ideal Candidate:

Experienced Litigation Paralegal with extensive knowledge of Florida Personal Injury and Medical Malpractice litigation. Skilled in managing litigation files from intake through trial. Drafting pleadings, discovery, deposition coordination, trial preparation, settlement processing, and client communication. Seeking to contribute litigation skills to Payas, Payas & Payas Injury Trial Attorneys, a respected Florida law firm with over 43 years of representing injured victims.

Ideal Candidate must have excellent communication skills, and assertiveness to coordinate deadlines among multiple attorneys. Attentive to detail with high accuracy. Extremely reliable in attendance, meeting deadlines, and anticipating what needs to be done. Able to effectively and efficiently manage multiple projects and completing deadlines. Ability to adapt to changing priorities and remain flexible to meet client and attorney needs.

Responsibilities:

Manage complex personal injury and medical malpractice cases from pre-suit through trial and settlement.
Draft complaints, motions, notices, subpoenas, discovery requests and responses.
Prepare and electronically file court pleadings in compliance with Florida court rules.
Coordinate depositions, hearings, mediations, expert witnesses, and trial schedules.
Prepare trial notebooks, exhibit binders, witness lists, and Bates-stamp exhibits.
Request, review, and organize medical records and billing records.
Prepare medical chronologies, damages summaries, and mediation materials.
Negotiate medical bill reductions and assist with settlement documentation and disbursements.
Maintain attorney calendars, litigation deadlines, and client communications using ProLaw case management software.
Conduct research to support legal proceedings
Schedule depositions, mediations, hearings, conferences and meetings, and medical examinations
Process litigation invoices, expert payments, and case-related expenses.

Qualifications:

Paralegal Certificate or Bachelor’s Degree preferred. At least 5+ years of paralegal experience required. Experience in personal injury and medical malpractice required.

Core Software:

ProLaw Case Management, Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint. Adobe Acrobat PDF and Florida Courts E-Filing Portal

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $30.00 - $50.00 per hour
