Full Job Description

Seeking advanced master jeweler

This position is in Ventura, California, an hour north of Los Angeles, midway between Malibu and Santa Barbara. Our address is 560 E Main St, Ventura, CA 93001.

Position Overview

This is a full-time bench jewelry position, repairing jewelry and setting custom pieces. You’ll be working alongside three others, including our owner George Fox, a Certified Master Bench Jeweler with over 50 years of experience, who set up our workshop, including in-house platinum and gold casting.

Your spacious work area has its own microscope and every other tool available. Our workshop has a draw bench, rolling mill, two laser welders, a casting area, and enclosed polishing stations. You’ll be working in an old-style brick building with large, airy windows that look out over our garden.

Fox Fine Jewelry prides itself on its high-quality work and is looking for someone who holds those same high standards. The right candidate will be a master at their craft, an excellent problem solver, while also collaborative, creative, and efficient.

Key Responsibilities

Stone setting: Prong, bezel, flush, channel, pave, micropave. Stones include centers and melee, and high value, fragile colored gems, like emerald, tanzanite and opal.
Complex jewelry repair: hinged shank installation, antique refurbishments, platinum repair, hinge repair, other complex jobs. Some hollow chain repair, sizing, retipping, soldering rings together.
Custom work: from raw castings to completion

Required Qualifications - Master Jeweler

10+ years experience as a Bench Jeweler, producing and repairing jewelry
Expert stone setter with experience working with diamonds and gemstones
Intermediate to advanced fabrication skills
Engraving, casting, and/or CAD experience a plus, but NOT required
Any other higher level jewelry skills are a strong plus.

Benefits and Compensation

Salary is $95,000 - $170,000 per year plus benefits, commensurate with experience. Benefits include Health Insurance, PTO/Vacation, Sick, and two retirement plans with automatic employer contributions: a 401K and a Defined Benefit plan.
