Central Scheduling Coordinator
Panhandle Pediatric Dentistry
Panama City, FL
Full-Time | $17.00–$19.00 per hour
About the Position
Panhandle Pediatric Dentistry is seeking a dependable, positive, and customer-service-focused Central Scheduling Coordinator to support our busy, multi-location pediatric dental practice.
This is an office-based position that involves making and receiving phone calls throughout the day. While you will communicate directly with patients and families by phone, this is not a patient-facing front desk position.
It is also not a traditional scripted call center role. Our Central Scheduling team functions as an extension of the front office and plays an important role in patient access, scheduling, communication, and the day-to-day operations of the practice.
Punctuality and dependable attendance are essential to this position. Our patients, providers, and other team members depend on the Central Scheduling team being available and ready to work as scheduled.
What You'll Do
- Make and receive a high volume of patient and parent/guardian calls throughout the workday
- Schedule and coordinate appointments across multiple practice locations
- Assist callers with scheduling questions and general practice information
- Route calls and messages to the appropriate departments, including insurance and IV/OR scheduling
- Verify Medicaid and designated insurance plans as assigned
- Maintain accurate patient, scheduling, and communication documentation
- Communicate professionally with patients, families, providers, and internal team members
- Help resolve scheduling concerns while maintaining a calm, helpful, and solutions-focused approach
- Follow established scheduling procedures and workflows consistently
- Support the practice by helping maintain efficient and accurate schedules across locations
Our Ideal Candidate
Our ideal candidate understands that reliability, punctuality, attendance, and attitude matter just as much as technical ability.
You may be a great fit if you:
- Show up on time and consistently maintain dependable attendance
- Have a positive, professional attitude
- Enjoy helping people and providing excellent customer service
- Are comfortable spending the majority of your workday making and taking phone calls
- Can remain patient, friendly, and professional during difficult or high-volume conversations
- Communicate clearly and confidently over the phone
- Can manage multiple priorities without sacrificing accuracy
- Pay close attention to details
- Follow established processes and procedures
- Take ownership of your responsibilities and follow through
- Work well as part of a team
- Can maintain focus in a structured, fast-paced office environment
Experience
Strongly Preferred:
- Previous dental office experience
- Dental scheduling or front office experience
- Medical or healthcare office experience
- High-volume customer service experience
- Experience scheduling appointments by phone
Additional Preferred Experience:
- Fuse
- Dentrix Ascend
- Insurance verification
- Medicaid verification
A strong customer service background is important. Candidates with significant customer service and scheduling experience may be considered even if their dental experience is limited.
