SUMMARY: Installs, maintains, and repairs machinery, equipment, physical structures, pipe, and electrical systems in hotel and restaurant by performing the following duties:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other job-related duties may be assigned.
· Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment.
· Listens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discusses machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problems or repair machines.
· Dismantles defective machines and equipment; install new or repaired parts (if qualified).
· Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other machinery parts.
· Installs and repairs electrical apparatus, such as transformers and wiring, electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment (if qualified).
· Lays out, assembles, installs, and maintains pipe systems and related hydraulic pneumatic equipment, an repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment (if qualified).
· Repairs and maintains the physical structure of the establishment.
· Installs, programs, or repairs automated machinery and equipment, such as robots or programmable controllers.
· Operates cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
· Fabricates and repairs counters, benches, partitions, and other wooden structures.
· Maintains a Preventative Maintenance Program within the rooms to ensure they are kept up to standards on a semi-annual basis and the proper documentation is recorded.
· Responsible for careful and efficient use of supplies issued for performing cleaning and maintenance duties.
· Respond to maintenance requests received from the Front Desk or Housekeeping within 15 minutes (occupied rooms)
· The parking lot and grounds will be patrolled continuously throughout the day (at least two times per day).
· Pool chemical testing must be completed at least twice daily (or according to company or jurisdictional standards).
· Emergency lighting must be checked at least once a month (or according to company or brand standards).
· In-room smoke detectors must be checked quarterly (or according to company or brand standards).
· Proper uniform, including nametag, must be worn at all times.
· Thorough knowledge of all in-house products and local area information to assist guests when needed.
· Team effort displayed in keeping all maintenance areas clean and neat and responsible for cleaning debris or mess resulting from maintenance processes.
· Employees will empower themselves to accept any customer problem brought to their attention as their problem and do everything in their power to resolve it.
· Employee will assume the responsibility of maintaining the storerooms clean, neat, and organized.
· Employee must display a team attitude and assist co-workers when needed.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential duty. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: One-year certification from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education or experience. Certain engineering positions may require additional certifications such as HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, etc.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information to customers, clients, and other organization associates in one-on-one and small-group situations.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurements, volume, and distance.
REASONING ABILITY: Applying commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The associate frequently is required to reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The associate frequently is required to talk or hear.
The associate must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the associate regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The associate occasionally works in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, extreme heat, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
