Full Job Description

Sharon Community Presbyterian Church

Moon Township, Pa. 15108

Position Title: Vocalist

Status: Weekly stipend

Compensation: $100.00/weekly

Hours: Approx. 5-7 hours per/week: to include rehearsal time and worship

services. Special services or events will be compensated per diem.

Responsibility Level

Weekly, the lead vocalist will support congregational worship music from classical worship

music to modern versions of traditional hymns to contemporary music. We seek a vocalist who

is professional, reliable and punctual, has excellent communication skills, and enjoys singing a

variety of music styles. Given that our musicians are part-time employees, we rely on

seamless communication during the week amongst the team. Competency and experience

singing in traditional and popular styles required.

Principle Duties

1. Communicate fluidly with the Pastor, Worship Team, and Worship Chair to collaborate in the

selection and arrangement of musical offerings and prepare Power Point lyric slides for

weekly worship.

2. Prepare 3-4 vocals weekly prior to rehearsals.

3. Lead the congregation vocally during worship.

4. Co-direct and rehearse the musicians (including choir) during weekly practices and any

additional times identified by rehearsal needs.

5. Recruit and contract vocalists for special services and/or weekly worship.

6. Help to develop special musical services, i.e., Advent Cantata and Christmas Eve service;

Lenten, Holy Week, and Easter services.

7. Provide music for special services or events such as weddings, funerals and other services as

requested. Additional compensation will be provided for those services.

8. If unable to play for worship or special services, arrange for a suitable substitute.

9. At the request of the Pastor, perform special projects or other related duties as assigned.

Pay: $100.00 per week
