Responsibilities

Perform comprehensive patient assessments to determine suitability for IV therapy and related treatments.
Administer IV infusions, injections, and medications following aseptic technique and safety protocols.
Educate patients on IV therapy procedures, potential side effects, and post-treatment care instructions.
Maintain accurate medical documentation within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
Monitor patient responses during treatment, managing acute pain or adverse reactions promptly and effectively.
Collaborate with healthcare providers to develop individualized care plans tailored to each patient's needs.
Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and infection control standards during all patient interactions.
Manage medical supplies and equipment, including sterile processing and catheter care supplies, ensuring readiness for each visit.

Skills

Proven experience with IV infusion, venipuncture, and catheter care in diverse clinical settings such as hospital medicine, outpatient clinics, or home care environments.
Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology relevant to infusion therapy and medication administration.
Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks for accurate documentation.
Ability to perform physical examinations and vital signs assessment efficiently in mobile or home settings.
Excellent patient communication skills with the ability to educate and comfort individuals receiving treatment.
Critical care experience including ICU or emergency medicine is highly desirable for managing complex cases.
Knowledge of infection control practices and aseptic techniques essential for safe procedures.
Experience working with vulnerable populations such as seniors in assisted living or memory care facilities is a plus.
Ability to adapt quickly to different environments while maintaining high standards of patient safety and care quality.
