Full Job Description

Automotive Controller

Position Overview

A well-established automotive dealership is seeking an experienced Automotive Controller to oversee the financial operations of the dealership. This position will be responsible for accounting, financial reporting, month-end close, internal controls, and supporting dealership leadership with accurate financial information.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee day-to-day accounting and financial operations
Manage the month-end and year-end closing processes
Prepare and review financial statements, reports, and reconciliations
Monitor accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger activity
Ensure accurate recording of vehicle sales, inventory, floor plan financing, and other dealership transactions
Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with accounting policies
Analyze financial results and provide recommendations to management
Prepare budgets, forecasts, and financial analysis as needed
Work closely with department managers and dealership leadership
Coordinate with outside accountants, auditors, banks, and other financial partners
Identify discrepancies and implement process improvements
Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and tax requirements
Supervise and support accounting staff as needed

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
3+ years of accounting or financial management experience
Previous automotive dealership accounting experience is strongly preferred
Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting and financial reporting
Experience with month-end close and reconciliations
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to analyze financial information and communicate findings clearly
Ability to work independently while partnering effectively with leadership

The ideal candidate is a hands-on accounting professional who is comfortable taking ownership of the dealership's financial operations. Automotive dealership accounting experience is a major plus. Salary will be based on experience.

Pay: Up to $150,000.00 per year
