Certified Medication Aide

Elm Meadows Senior Living-Family Care Home
Midland, NC

Position Summary

Elm Meadows Senior Living is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and detail-oriented to Medication Aide to join our team. The Medication Aide is responsible for administering medications, monitoring resident health and safety, assisting with activities of daily living, documenting care provided, and promoting a warm, home-like environment for older adults.

The ideal candidate has experience working with seniors, including individuals living with dementia, and demonstrates professionalism, patience, and a commitment to resident-centered care.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Medication Administration

Administer medications as delegated and permitted by North Carolina regulations.
Accurately document medication administration on MARs and TARs.
Observe residents for medication side effects, adverse reactions, and changes in condition.
Report concerns promptly to the Administrator, RN Consultant, physician, or pharmacy as appropriate.
Monitor medication supplies and assist with medication reorders.

Resident Care

Assist residents with activities of daily living including:
Bathing
Dressing
Grooming
Toileting
Transfers and mobility
Dining assistance
Obtain and document vital signs, weights, and other observations as assigned.
Provide memory care support utilizing dementia-friendly approaches.
Assist with resident activities and engagement programs.

Documentation & Compliance

Maintain accurate resident records and documentation.
Follow HIPAA and confidentiality requirements.
Complete incident reports, behavior documentation, and communication logs as required.
Follow all Elm Meadows policies, state regulations, infection control procedures, and emergency preparedness plans.

Household Support

Assist with meal service and hydration rounds.
Perform light housekeeping and laundry duties.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment for residents and visitors.

Qualifications Required

High school diploma or GED.
Minimum age of 18 years
CPR Certified
Pass NC Medication Aide Exam
Ability to pass criminal background screening.
Negative TB screening/testing.
Ability to lift, transfer, and assist residents safely.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred

Experience in assisted living, family care homes, memory care, home health, skilled nursing, hospice, or hospital settings.
Experience caring for individuals with Alzheimer's disease or other dementias.
Familiarity with electronic medication records and healthcare documentation systems.

Required Certifications

Applicants must possess or obtain the following:

Current CPR Certification (American Heart Association or American Red Cross preferred)
North Carolina Medication Aide Training 15 hr Course Certificate
Passed North Carolina Medication Aide Exam

Preferred Certifications

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA I)
Certified Nursing Assistant II (CNA II)
Medication Aide Certification
Dementia Care Certification
Hospice and Palliative Care Training
Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders Training

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to assist with resident transfers and repositioning.
Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations.

Schedule 12hr shifts:

Full-Time
Part-Time
PRN
Day Shift (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
Night Shift (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Weekends and Holidays

Pay

$17.00–$19.00 per hour based on experience, certifications, and performance.
