California Family Law Paralegal (Remote)
Boutique California law firm f focused exclusively on premarital and postmarital agreements. We are seeking an experienced California family law paralegal to become an integral part of our growing, fully remote practice.
Unlike a traditional family law firm, our practice is entirely transactional. We do not handle litigation, court appearances, discovery, or trial work. Instead, we work closely with clients to draft sophisticated premarital and postmarital agreements that require exceptional attention to detail, strong drafting skills, and excellent judgment.
This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced California family law paralegal who enjoys drafting and client communication and is looking to leave the demands of litigation while continuing to perform meaningful substantive legal work in a fully remote environment.
Our practice is collaborative, technology-driven, and focused on producing exceptionally high-quality work product. We continuously refine our workflows through automation, AI-assisted drafting, and modern practice management systems to improve efficiency while maintaining exceptional quality. Because we do not litigate, this position offers the opportunity to focus on sophisticated drafting and client communication without the demands of court appearances, discovery, or trial preparation.
Responsibilities include:
- Drafting and revising premarital and postmarital agreements.
- Reviewing client revision requests and preparing revised agreements for attorney review.
- Preparing redlines, clean versions, client correspondence, and supporting documents.
- Managing attorney workflow and helping move client matters efficiently from intake through execution.
- Monitoring and organizing attorney email, identifying administrative matters that can be handled independently, and preparing substantive matters for attorney review.
- Coordinating with clients, opposing counsel, and independent counsel.
- Preparing onboarding materials, engagement agreements, invoices, and other client communications.
- Managing document quality control, including proofreading, formatting, consistency, and accuracy.
- Handling occasional inbound telephone calls from clients, prospective clients, and opposing counsel.
- Maintaining accurate matter status and assisting with practice management systems.
The ideal candidate has:
- At least three years of California family law paralegal experience.
- Exceptional written communication skills.
- Outstanding proofreading and attention to detail.
- Extensive experience drafting and revising family law documents.
- Ability to exercise sound independent judgment while recognizing when attorney review is required.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Enthusiastic about learning and adopting new technology, including AI-assisted drafting tools, workflow automation, and modern cloud-based legal practice management systems.
- Naturally curious about improving efficiency through technology while maintaining exceptional attention to detail and work quality.
- Ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with premarital or postmarital agreements.
- Experience revising attorney drafts based on client comments.
- Experience working in a paperless law practice.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Word formatting and redlining.
- Experience using AI tools professionally in a legal or document-intensive environment.
- Experience with document automation, workflow automation, or cloud-based legal practice management software.
- Experience working in a highly technology-driven, paperless law practice.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word is required. This position involves extensive document formatting, tracked changes, redlining, and preparation of publication-quality legal documents.
The successful candidate is meticulous, takes genuine pride in producing flawless work product, and naturally notices inconsistencies, formatting issues, incorrect names or dates, cross-reference errors, and other details before documents are sent to clients.
