Overview

Join our dynamic manufacturing team as a Lathe Operator - Machinist and become a vital contributor to precision metalworking processes! In this role, you will operate and set up CNC and manual lathes to produce high-quality components, ensuring every part meets strict specifications. Your expertise in machining tools, blueprint reading, and measurement instruments will drive efficiency and excellence in our production line. We’re looking for motivated individuals eager to develop their skills in CNC programming, mechanical blueprint interpretation, and precision measurement while working in a fast-paced, safety-conscious environment. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with advanced machining technology and contribute to innovative manufacturing solutions.

Responsibilities

Set up and operate CNC lathe machines, ensuring precise execution of machining tasks according to detailed blueprints and technical drawings.
Use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines to verify dimensions and ensure quality standards are met throughout the manufacturing process.
Read and interpret complex blueprints, technical drawings, and CAD models.
Select appropriate tooling, fixtures, and tooling setups for various machining operations involving plastics injection molding components or metal parts.
Conduct electrical discharge machining (EDM) processes when required for intricate or hard-to-machine features.
Perform routine maintenance on CNC machinery, troubleshoot issues promptly, and document machine performance logs.
Utilize hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and other mechanical tools to assist in machine setup or part assembly as needed.
Follow lean manufacturing principles to optimize workflow, reduce waste, and improve overall efficiency on the shop floor.
Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to safety protocols related to machining operations, forklift operation, and handling of hazardous materials.
Collaborate with team members on continuous improvement initiatives and participate in training sessions for new manufacturing techniques or equipment.

Experience

Proven experience operating CNC lathes within a manufacturing environment.
Strong knowledge of CNC programming including G-code editing.
Familiarity with blueprint reading, GD&T standards, and mechanical drawings is essential.
Hands-on experience with precision measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM).
Basic math skills necessary for calculating dimensions, feeds, speeds, and tolerances during machining processes.
Mechanical aptitude with understanding of tooling setup, maintenance procedures, welding techniques, and assembly processes.
Ability to operate forklifts safely and efficiently when handling raw materials or finished parts.
