We are seeking a gifted and spiritually mature Director of Worship Arts to lead our worship culture and worship arts ministries with excellence, passion, and integrity.
Position Overview
The Director of Worship Arts provides spiritual, creative, and administrative leadership for all worship experiences at Wake Chapel Church. This leader ensures that every service is Christ-centered, excellent in execution, and aligned with the vision of the Senior Pastor. The Director oversees all worship arts ministries—including choirs, praise teams, musicians, dance, and mime—while collaborating closely with the Media Ministry and the Director of Ministry Operations to ensure seamless service execution and ministry alignment.
Key Responsibilities
Worship Leadership
- Plan, coordinate, and lead weekly worship services in partnership with the Senior Pastor’s preaching schedule.
- Select and arrange biblically sound and culturally relevant music that reflects the church’s worship identity.
- Lead and develop worship teams, musicians, choirs, and worship arts volunteers through rehearsals, training, and spiritual encouragement.
Worship Arts Leadership
Provide leadership and oversight for the following ministries:
- Band
- Praise Teams
- Men’s Choir
- Women’s Choir
- Youth Choir
- Dance Ministry
- Mime Ministry
Additional responsibilities include:
- Fostering creativity and excellence in all worship arts expressions used in worship.
- Collaborating with the Media Ministry to support audio, video, lighting, livestream, and visual elements.
- Partnering with the Executive Team on sermon series branding, special events, and visual storytelling.
Team Development & Administration
- Recruit, audition, train, schedule, and onboard new musicians and worship arts volunteers.
- Build a culture of excellence, accountability, and spiritual maturity within the Worship Arts Ministry.
- Manage ministry budgets, equipment needs, and maintenance of musical instruments and worship arts resources.
- Ensure all worship environments are prepared, rehearsed, and executed with professionalism and care.
- Work in partnership with the Director of Ministry Operations to ensure operational alignment and administrative support.
- Oversee payroll for contracted band musicians.
- Attend regular staff meetings and additional meetings as requested.
- Perform other related tasks as assigned.
Special Services & Events
- Lead worship planning for major services such as Easter, Christmas, church anniversaries, revivals, and community events.
- Support weddings, funerals, and other pastoral services as needed.
- Partner with other ministries to provide worship support for conferences, youth events, and outreach initiatives.
Qualifications
Spiritual & Personal
- A mature, committed follower of Jesus Christ with a lifestyle that reflects biblical character and integrity.
- Agreement with Wake Chapel Church’s doctrine, mission, and values.
- A heart for worship, discipleship, and developing others.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Music, Worship Arts, Theology, or related field preferred.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience leading worship in a church setting.
- Strong vocal and/or instrumental proficiency with the ability to lead teams musically and spiritually.
- Experience developing worship teams and coordinating worship arts ministries.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with pastoral leadership, staff, and volunteers.
- Familiarity with worship technology platforms (e.g., Planning Center, ProPresenter).
- Creative, adaptable, and able to thrive in a fast-paced ministry environment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with experience in conflict resolution.
- Pastoral passion for helping people grow spiritually and musically.
- Demonstrated confidentiality and discretion when handling personal and ministry information.
Reporting Structure
- Reports to the Executive Pastor
- Dotted-Line Relationship: Director of Ministry Operations
- Works closely with: Senior Pastor, Media Ministry, Executive Team, Music Staff, Worship Arts Leaders

Salary/Benefits:
Salary will be commensurate with experience and will be discussed later in the interview process. Funds for health insurance (including dental & vision) are included in the overall compensation package.
