Full Job Description

Location: Rapid City

The Accounting Clerk III plays a key role in supporting the financial operations of The Monument , combining traditional accounting responsibilities with the energy and excitement of an event-driven environment. This position supports multiple departments, provides front-office customer service, maintains financial records, and contributes to the behind-the-scenes work that keeps our venue running smoothly. While primarily office-based, occasional evening and weekend work is required to support events and business needs.

What you will do
In this role, you will support the financial and administrative operations of The Monument by processing monthly statements, verifying finance charges, receiving and coding payments, and reconciling bank statements within our accounting software. You will collaborate with box office staff to integrate daily ticket sales, maintain accounts receivable files, manage spreadsheets and databases, and complete monthly invoicing for partners and vendors. Your work includes responding to vendor inquiries, balancing statements, analyzing accounts, preparing end-of-month transactions, and assisting with profit and loss data entry for invoiced events. You will provide front-office customer service by answering phones, greeting visitors, distributing correspondence, ordering supplies, producing shipping labels, and serving as cashier or receptionist when needed.

Additionally, you will prepare documentation for board meetings , attend meetings to take minutes, collect past-due invoices, settle smaller events, track attendance and operational data, reconcile credit card statements, prepare payroll, manage petty cash and travel funds, file financial documents, and serve as a backup to Accounts Payable, the vault team, and other staff based on business needs.

What you will bring

Associate’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
2 years of accounting or finance experience required.
Strong accuracy, attention to detail, and documentation skills.
Ability to analyze financial and operational data and develop recommendations.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting systems.
Knowledge of GAAP and governmental accounting principles.
Ability to communicate clearly with internal teams, partners, and the public.
Comfort working independently while contributing to a collaborative team.
Adaptability in a dynamic, event-driven environment.
