Full Job Description

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Accounting Clerk to join our finance team. In this REMOTE role, you will be responsible for supporting various accounting functions, including data entry, account reconciliation, and financial record maintenance. The ideal candidate will possess strong numeracy skills, proficiency with accounting software, and a solid understanding of financial concepts such as debits and credits, journal entries, and balance sheet reconciliation. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop expertise in corporate and governmental accounting practices while contributing to accurate financial reporting and compliance.

Duties

Perform data entry of financial transactions into multiple accounting systems, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including invoice processing, payment scheduling, and customer account management.
Reconcile accounts regularly to verify balances and resolve discrepancies efficiently.
Prepare journal entries for various financial activities in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley) compliance standards.
Assist with month-end closing procedures, including ledger review and account analysis.
Support the preparation of financial reports using software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or Workday.
Handle inquiries related to billing, payments, or account status professionally and promptly.
Maintain organized records of all financial transactions and ensure adherence to internal controls.
Collaborate with internal teams on process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Contribute to audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations of account activity.

Qualifications

Minimum of two years’ experience in accounting or bookkeeping roles within corporate or governmental environments.
Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, PeopleSoft, Ceridian, ADP, Kronos, UltiPro, or similar platforms.
Strong understanding of GAAP principles, governmental accounting standards, and technical accounting concepts.
Experience with financial software including Paychex, Workday, UltiPro, Kronos, or comparable systems.
Knowledge of SOX compliance requirements related to financial controls and reporting.
Excellent numeracy skills with the ability to perform complex calculations accurately.
Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information responsibly.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in data entry and account reconciliation tasks.
Effective communication skills for customer service interactions and team collaboration.
Familiarity with Excel data analysis tools such as spreadsheets for reporting purposes.
