Overview

Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Collaborating Medical Doctor (MD) supporting Nurse Practitioners (NPs)! In this vital role, you will provide expert medical oversight, guidance, and collaboration to ensure high-quality patient care across diverse clinical settings. This position offers a unique opportunity to work closely with advanced practice providers, fostering a team-oriented environment dedicated to excellence in healthcare delivery. Whether in outpatient clinics, hospitals, or specialized care units, your expertise will empower NPs to deliver compassionate, efficient, and comprehensive care.

Duties

Serve as the primary collaborating physician for Nurse Practitioners, offering medical oversight and consultation
Review and approve patient assessments, treatment plans, and diagnostic evaluations
Provide guidance on complex cases involving acute pain management, infectious disease care, or chronic conditions such as geriatrics or dementia
Support NPs in performing procedures like suturing, dermal fillers, or spinal taps when necessary
Participate in clinical research initiatives and quality improvement projects to enhance patient outcomes
Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations including HIPAA and NCQA standards while maintaining accurate medical documentation
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across specialties such as emergency medicine, ICU, behavioral health, and telehealth services

Requirements

Valid medical license to practice as an MD in the relevant jurisdiction
Proven experience working in hospital medicine, emergency room settings, or Level I/II trauma centers with ICU experience preferred
Strong knowledge of EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, eClinicalWorks, or Athenahealth for documentation and patient management
Familiarity with CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding systems for billing and documentation purposes
Experience with procedures including IV infusion, catheterization, venipuncture, and sterile processing techniques
Background in specialties like anesthesiology, dermatology (dermal fillers), gastroenterology, or occupational health is advantageous
Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide clear clinical guidance and education to NPs and staff
Commitment to ongoing professional development in areas such as hospice & palliative medicine, infectious disease care, or post-acute care
