CONTRACT POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

Registered Nurse — At-Home Medical Infusion Specialist

ABOUT III-A

III-A is a self-funded health plan dedicated to providing excellent medical care for employees of Idaho public agencies. We are committed to delivering cost-effective, high-quality health benefits — including innovative at-home infusion services — that allow our members to receive the care they need in the comfort of their own homes.

POSITION OVERVIEW

III-A is seeking a highly skilled, experienced Registered Nurse to serve as an independent contractor providing at-home intravenous (IV) infusion therapy to our health plan members. This position requires a confident, self-directed clinician who can work autonomously in home settings, administer a wide range of IV medications safely and accurately, and respond calmly and competently to any emergent situations that may arise during treatment.

This is an occasional, as-needed position requiring approximately 2 to 3 days of service per month, with scheduling coordinated in advance. Travel to patient homes throughout the state of Idaho is required.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Travel to patient homes across Idaho to administer prescribed IV infusion therapies
Perform pre-infusion patient assessments including vital signs, IV site evaluation, and clinical history review
Initiate and maintain peripheral and/or central venous access in accordance with best clinical practices
Administer prescribed IV medications including antibiotics, biologics, hydration fluids, immunoglobulins, and other infusion therapies
Monitor patients throughout infusion for adverse reactions, including anaphylaxis or other urgent events, and respond accordingly
Manage emergent situations independently and with confidence until appropriate resources are engaged
Communicate effectively with prescribing physicians and III-A care coordinators regarding patient status and outcomes
Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation in accordance with III-A requirements
Ensure all equipment, supplies, and medications are handled, transported, and disposed of per applicable regulations
Maintain confidentiality of member health information in compliance with HIPAA

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the State of Idaho and in good standing with the Idaho Board of Nursing
Minimum of 2 years of clinical nursing experience in one or more of the following: Emergency Department (ED), Intensive Care Unit (ICU), or surgical/perioperative setting
Demonstrated proficiency in peripheral IV insertion, central line access, and IV medication administration
Proven ability to recognize and manage acute clinical emergencies including anaphylaxis, adverse drug reactions, and hemodynamic instability
Strong clinical assessment and independent clinical decision-making skills
Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification; ACLS strongly preferred
Valid Idaho driver’s license and reliable personal vehicle for statewide travel
Active professional liability (malpractice) insurance in amounts acceptable to III-A — proof of coverage required prior to service Proof of insurance with coverage limits meeting III-A’s minimum standards must be submitted and kept current. III-A reserves the right to verify coverage at any time.
Ability to pass a background check

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Prior home health, home infusion, or infusion clinic experience
Experience with PICC lines, ports, and other central venous access devices
Familiarity with IV medication preparation and aseptic technique in field settings

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is performed in patients’ private residences throughout the state of Idaho. Contractors must be comfortable operating independently in variable home environments, sometimes with limited on-site support. This position requires the physical ability to lift and carry infusion equipment, kneel or bend to access patient IV sites, and remain with a patient for the duration of an infusion session. Mileage reimbursement is available in accordance with III-A contractor policies.
