Position Summary
________________________________________
As a Superintendent in the Fire Protection Industry, you will be responsible for providing leadership and oversite for construction, service, and warranty projects. You will oversee the day-to-day operations of foremen and their crews within their assigned area. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring smooth operations through assessing customer needs, implementing job site safety requirements, and leading crews to provide quality field work performance.
Key Responsibilities and Objectives

1. Job Set Ups and Close Out:
- Review the Job Start report in Job Track for assigned work.
- Review job specific requirements.
- Perform final job site walkdown as needed.
2. Assign Resources:
- Determine the needed crew size for jobs.
- Schedule Core Drill activities.
- Work with HR, and other business agents and organizers to obtain more staff.
3. Training and Development:
- Work with the Operations Manager to schedule regional foreman training.
- Coach and correct behaviors to align with IFSS standards. Provide regular mentorship.
- Ensure foremen complete the Safety Hazard analysis properly.
- Regularly check Foreman Logs for completion and accuracy.
- Perform job site inspections to guide and ensure they are performing the installation to IFSS and client standards.
4. Safety:
- Work with the foreman to obtain proper safety equipment is set up for each job.
- Perform at least four (4) safety observations per month.
5. Equipment and Tool Management:
- Order equipment and tools, or schedule for renting as needed.
- Review equipment rentals once a week for potential equipment call offs, and arrange for returns as needed.
6. Truck Inventory:
- Keep up with regular maintenance to ensure all trucks remain in good working condition.
- Ensure GPS is installed and working on all trucks.
- Monitor the Foreman truck GPS system.
- Perform field visits as needed to assess that technicians are keeping trucks clean and reporting maintenance needs.
7. Purchase Orders and Job Costing:
- Issue purchase orders at the beginning of jobs as needed.
- Communicate purchase order and project numbers with the foremen.
- Assess job costs weekly to determine labor rates.
8. Communication:
- Contact designers or project managers before heading to the job site; inform the customer/GC of when you’re onsite.
- Keep designers and project managers informed of project progress, issues, and get approval for any changes that may be needed.
- Inform all parties of the schedule as needed.
- Validate, communicate, and align field needs to the designer, including and not limited to: stock lists, materials, permits, and design issues.
9. Miscellaneous Tasks:
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Technical Skills

- Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of industry engineering fundamentals and business operations.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and engineering software applications.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.

Qualifications
Education & Experience

- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or relevant certifications are a plus.
- G-Card, OSHA-30, Lift, and CPR.
- 5+ years’ experience in installing or servicing fire protection systems.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements

- Travel to project sites as needed.
