About KODIAK Construction Talent Solutions
KODIAK Construction Talent Solutions is a specialized recruiting and staffing partner serving the commercial and industrial construction industries. We connect skilled professionals with leading organizations across electrical, mechanical, service, maintenance, construction, and other skilled trades.
About the Role
KODIAK is seeking an experienced Talent Acquisition Specialist with a strong focus on electrical, mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, maintenance, and service trades to support recruiting across multiple locations and markets.
This role requires more than sourcing and processing candidates. We are looking for someone who is highly organized, proactive, relationship-focused, and comfortable taking ownership while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced recruiting environment.
The Talent Acquisition Specialist will partner closely with recruiters, hiring managers, and other stakeholders to understand workforce needs, develop recruiting strategies, build qualified talent pipelines, and manage candidates throughout the hiring process.
The successful candidate will be someone who can anticipate needs, communicate effectively with different audiences, identify opportunities to improve recruiting processes, and operate as a trusted recruiting partner rather than simply executing assigned tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Source, recruit, screen, and engage skilled trades professionals, including service technicians, HVAC technicians, electricians, mechanics, plumbers, maintenance technicians, sheet metal professionals, and other electrical and mechanical trades
- Manage candidates throughout the recruiting lifecycle, including sourcing, phone screening, qualification, interview coordination, offer, placement, and onboarding support
- Support multiple hiring managers, recruiters, departments, projects, locations, and labor markets simultaneously
- Build trusted partnerships with hiring managers and stakeholders by understanding their workforce needs, communicating market conditions, and providing recruiting guidance
- Serve as a recruiting advisor by identifying challenges, recommending solutions, and adjusting recruiting strategies based on hiring needs and candidate availability
- Build and maintain active candidate pipelines by trade, skill set, location, and experience level
- Conduct detailed phone screens to assess technical experience, work history, location, compensation expectations, availability, certifications, and overall fit
- Independently evaluate resumes and determine whether candidates meet established position requirements
- Effectively communicate qualified candidates and relevant candidate information to recruiters and hiring managers
- Manage competing priorities and adjust quickly as hiring demands, project needs, and business priorities change
- Utilize ATS platforms, LinkedIn Recruiter, Indeed, job boards, referrals, social media, databases, and proactive outbound recruiting strategies to identify talent
- Conduct candidate reactivation and follow-up campaigns with previous applicants, former employees, referrals, and existing talent pools
- Coordinate interviews, confirmations, reminders, and candidate follow-up throughout the recruiting process
- Maintain accurate candidate records, notes, statuses, and documentation within the ATS
- Identify and eliminate duplicate candidate records while maintaining strong data integrity
- Support onboarding by tracking required documentation, I-9 completion, drug screens, and other pre-employment requirements
- Assist with maintaining current job postings and ensuring postings accurately reflect position requirements, compensation, location, and recruiter ownership
- Maintain consistent communication with candidates throughout the recruiting and onboarding process
- Provide candidate care and follow-up with new hires and active employees to support engagement and retention
- Monitor local labor markets, compensation trends, candidate availability, and competitive hiring activity within the skilled trades
- Identify opportunities to improve recruiting processes, candidate experience, communication, and overall team efficiency
- Take initiative to resolve recruiting challenges and move priorities forward without requiring constant direction
- Support and coordinate recruiting-related projects and events, which may include career fairs, hiring events, student field trips, community events, and other workforce development initiatives
- Collaborate with the recruiting team to ensure coverage of changing hiring demands and emerging spikes in client needs
What Success Looks Like
Success in this role will be measured by both recruiting activity and quality of execution, including:
- Consistent applicant and resume review
- Meaningful outbound candidate sourcing and qualification activity
- Qualified candidate generation and recruiter/hiring manager interview volume
- Strong pipeline development by trade and market
- Timely candidate and hiring-manager follow-up
- Accurate and complete ATS documentation
- Timely and accurate onboarding support
- Job posting compliance and maintenance
- Quality of candidates submitted relative to established requirements
- Ability to independently manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Responsiveness when hiring needs increase or change
- Ability to build productive relationships with hiring managers, recruiters, candidates, and other stakeholders

- Examples of improving recruiting processes, increasing efficiency, solving hiring challenges, or enhancing candidate experience
- Ability to influence, collaborate, and drive positive outcomes without formal authority
