Job Description
This role focuses on observing and documenting manufacturing processes on the floor, capturing critical tribal and legacy knowledge, and converting it into clear, structured documentation. You will work closely with operations and data management teams to develop standardized templates, support integration of documentation into an ERP system, and enable effective knowledge transfer during a facility relocation.
Responsibilities

Observe and document manufacturing processes directly on the shop floor from start to finish.

Shadow operators throughout the full production process to understand workflows, tools, and procedures in detail.

Capture tribal and legacy knowledge that is currently outside of formal systems such as SAP.

Translate notes and observations into clear, structured technical documentation that can be easily understood and followed.

Collaborate with the data management team to design and refine documentation templates for ERP and SAP integration.

Transfer and process finalized documentation into the ERP system to ensure accurate and accessible records.

Support knowledge transfer activities related to facility relocation by documenting processes and best practices.

Ensure all documentation meets high standards for accuracy, completeness, and consistency in a regulated manufacturing environment.

Work cross-functionally with operations and data management teams to align documentation with process and system requirements.

Maintain a highly organized approach to managing documentation, revisions, and updates over time.
Essential Skills
-
Proven technical writing and documentation experience, preferably in a manufacturing setting.

Experience working in a manufacturing environment such as aerospace, medical device, pharmaceutical, or other regulated industries.

Hands-on experience with ERP systems, with SAP experience considered a significant advantage.

High attention to detail and accuracy when observing processes and creating documentation.

Ability to translate complex, hands-on manufacturing processes into clear written procedures and structured documents.

Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with operations and data management teams.

Comfort working in a production environment where exposure to chemicals requires proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience supporting documentation efforts during facility moves, transfers, or major process changes.

Familiarity with integrating process documentation into ERP or SAP-based systems.

Ability to work autonomously while maintaining regular communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Strong organizational skills to manage multiple documentation projects and revisions simultaneously.
Work Environment
This role operates on a 4x10 schedule, typically from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., providing extended workdays with a consistent weekly rhythm. You will work primarily on the manufacturing floor in close partnership with operations and data management teams, while reporting into plant leadership. The environment includes exposure to chemicals, and appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) will be required and provided as part of standard safety practices. The work style is highly autonomous, giving you significant ownership over your documentation projects, while still offering regular opportunities for collaboration with cross-functional colleagues. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $40.00/hr.
