Full Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:

The Operating Room Coordinator will maintain and manage the equipment, schedule coordination and loaner pans in the operating room, acting as a liaison for sterile processing, scheduling and nursing to facilitate OR set up and all special requests for surgical cases.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Reviews the perioperative surgical schedule daily.

2. Creates and maintains a working equipment inventory

3. Acts as a liason for sterile processing and the CORE

4. Checks and manages equipment coordination/conflicts for cases

5. Communicates with SPD manager and OR manager regarding equipment necessary for upcoming cases.

6. Communicates with OR manager/OR staff related to any deficiencies, equipment conflicts or equipment coming for cases

7. Coordinates with RRH facilities to transfer equipment and soft goods back and forth as needed to fulfill the needs of the operating rooms

8. Maintains a neat, orderly and clean equipment room.

9. Adhere to the ASC’s Policies and Procedures.

10. Supplies any stock items needed to OR’s as required throughout the work day.

11. Attends daily huddle with the CORE and SPD; work with SPD to manage loaner trays and ensure they get to correct case picks

12. Participates in the cross training for new surgical instrumentation and equipment.

13. Assists in turning rooms over

14. Uses safe work practices.

15. Is flexible with schedule based on the needs of the ASC.

16. Performs other duties as assigned by charge nurse or clinical manager or SPD manager.

17. Is trained to wrap pans and pick cases to support ancillary departments.

18. Ensure that equipment is maintained, replaced and repaired if needed. Schedule all equipment checks on incoming equipment.

19. Coordinates large C-arm coverage with Linden

20. Coordinate frozen section coverage with pathology team

21. Print preference cards daily, pair with schedule to ensure accuracy, create new preference cards as needed

GENERAL EXPECTATIONS:

Complete special assignments as indicated and necessary for the smooth functioning of the surgery center.
Effectively and clearly communicate ideas/information both verbally and in writing with co-workers.
Capable of working effectively as a member of a team throughout organization while maintaining mutual cooperation.
Seeks to improve quality in all aspects of work performance.
Actively shows initiative in job position through collaboration, suggestion, self-starting and innovation.
Assume responsibility for personal growth by participating in scheduled and mandatory in-services.
Ability to set goals and establish priorities while utilizing effective time management skills.

EDUCATION:

High School graduate or equivalent.
Operating room experience required.

PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Standing and walking for extended periods throughout the workday
Ability to sit for prolonged periods while performing scheduling, coordination, and documentation tasks
Frequent walking, bending, reaching, and movement throughout the clinical environment
Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 25 lbs. occasionally
Ability to move equipment and supplies as needed to support operating room workflow
Demonstrates sufficient visual acuity and manual dexterity to use computer systems, scheduling software, and office equipment
Ability to hear and respond to verbal requests, telephone calls, and alarms
Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required in the clinical setting
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and respond appropriately to routine and urgent situations
Exposure to bodily fluids, chemicals, and clinical equipment

Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
