CC Young, a vibrant senior living community and a non-profit leader in senior living and Health Care is seeking a Full time Floater Certified Nurse Aide who assists residents with daily living activities and fills any open shifts through the week as needed.
The ideal candidate needs be able to work at least 2 of these shifts full time (7am-3pm, 3pm-11pm or 11pm-7am)
Please note: This is a full-time position designed to provide coverage to various open shifts on a weekly basis.. There will not be a permanent assignment given but instead will fill in different shifts to meet the needs of the department. In the event there are no open shifts to be filled, the floater CNA will be directed to provide other duties on behalf of the health center not limited to: gathering weights, participating in therapy programs and creating life enrichment activities, updating white boards, answering call lights, delivering supplies, cleaning and sanitizing medical equipment, organizing supplies, attending care plans, transporting residents, assisting with appointments and transportation as well as answering phones or other duties as assigned.
Schedule: 37.5 hours per week as assigned. Flexibility to work any shift and day of the week is required. This position fills in open shifts throughout the week as needed but if there are no openings, the schedule will be Tuesday - Saturday or Wednesday - Sunday.
Job duties include, but are not limited to:
- Under the direction of licensed nursing personnel, assists residents with daily living activities, including but not limited to bathing, showering, dressing, brushing and combing hair, pre- and post-meal grooming, eating, and oral hygiene.
- Changes bed linens, answers call lights and passes and serves water as required.
- Lifts, moves, and transfers residents as required. This involves the ability to safely transfer residents who cannot bear their own weight.
- Checks and repositions residents at least every two (2) hours or as instructed by physician and nursing personnel.
- Keeps residents clean and dry, by toileting or providing incontinent care. Assist with bowel and bladder care. Empties foley catheter bags, records amount, and type. Provides perineal care according to policy.
- Observes and monitors residents and reports changes in condition to nurse in charge. Reports all accidents and incidents immediately.
- Answers call lights immediately, maintaining our goal of 3-minute response time or less. Answers residents’ requests promptly
- Assists and or provides total feeding assistance to residents.
- Maintains proper oral hygiene and good skin care by assisting with teeth brushing, denture care, using lotions creams and protective devices to avoid skin tears.
- Provides direct nursing care to residents which involves walking, reaching, bending, lifting, grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing and pulling, ability to communicate with residents, ability to hear and respond to resident pages and distinguish smells, tastes and temperatures, ability to read and write; and ability to remain calm under stress.
- Cleans water pitchers and keep fresh water at the bedside. Offer hydration several times to residents during each shift.
- Cleans wheelchairs, beds, and sanitizes medical equipment. Maintains organization in storage closets and DME rooms.
- Uses supplies and equipment carefully. Reports supply shortage/outage and equipment issues promptly.
- Rinses soiled linen in preparation to be sent to the laundry.
- Encourages residents to be as independent as possible while maintaining their residents’ rights.
- Ensures that unit and resident rooms are clean and free of hazards.
- Assists in admission, transfer, and discharge of residents.
- Follow universal precautions to protect self, residents, and other staff members.
- Attends in-service and other meetings as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum qualifications include:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Possession of a valid Certified Nursing Assistant Certification in the state of Texas.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently.
- Excellent verbal skills for interaction with all levels of Company, resident, family, and visitor personnel.
- Excellent written communication skills for updating resident documentation.
- Proven organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to complete tasks while having multiple interruptions.
- Ability to push, pull, move and/or lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Excellent customer service and de-escalation skills.
- Knowledgeable about residents’ rights
- Willingness and ability to wear protective personal equipment needed in carrying out duties.
- Must be experienced with the ability to work flexibly, juggling multiple tasks, and often caring for patients of various demographics often (EX: long term care vs. rehab)
- Willingness to move to different floors or halls as determined by schedule needs.
