Cybersecurity Analyst Intern - (2601607)
Position Information
TxDOT is looking for a paid intern to work as a Cybersecurity Analyst in our Cybersecurity Operations Center (CSOC) at TxDOT's Stassney campus in Austin, Texas. The intern will be assisting the CSOC protecting TxDOT from cybersecurity attacks, learning how to use a broad suite of security tools, and learning what it takes to keep the TxDOT safe from billions of cyber threats targeting TxDOT every year.
During the summer the intern must be able to work in person at the Stassney Campus Monday through Friday during the day. During the school year the intern would be expected to work 20 hours a week on a flexible schedule remotely from their college.
The ideal candidate is someone attending college to go into the Cybersecurity career field that is looking to get a jump start on their career now.
Minimum Salary: 18.00
Maximum Salary: 21.00
Pay Basis: Yearly

Position Description
Must be enrolled in an engineering or related science degree program in an accredited college or university accepted by TX PELS. Assists in transportation engineering support work such as construction or maintenance inspection, structural construction or maintenance, laboratory work, landscaping, surveying or engineering data collection, operating data collection equipment, and other entry-level engineering support work. Employees at this level perform assignments following specific instructions and are subject to frequent review by the immediate supervisor.
Essential Duties:- Develop plans to safeguard computer configuration and data files against accidental or unauthorized modification,
destruction, or disclosure and to meet emergency data processing needs.
- Design, automate, manage, and deploy security applications and infrastructure program activities.
- Assists in monitoring and analyzing security events and alerts from security tools and information systems.
- Helps triage incidents and escalate findings with clear documentation. Supports security assessments, vulnerability and
configuration reviews, basic log analysis, and verification of remediation actions.

- Works with technical teams to resolve non-standard issues, learns agency standards and best practices.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be enrolled in an engineering or related science degree program in an accredited college or university accepted by TX PELS.
Must be at least 16 years of age, a student currently enrolled in high school or any institution of higher education to include
a trade/vocational school, IN TEXAS.
Employees at least 18 years of age with valid driver's license may be assigned driving duties and may use power tools.
- Sedentary work: Lift up to 10 lbs at a time and occasionally carry files/small tools
- Light work: Lift up to 20 lbs at a time and frequently lift or carry objects up to 10 lbs
- Talking-expressing or exchanging ideas by spoken words
- Close Visual Acuity-work includes data/figures; view a computer screen; extensive reading
