SUMMARY: The Executive Director of Student Services is responsible for leading, coordinating, and managing district-wide programs and policies that support student safety, well-being, attendance, compliance, and academic engagement. This role oversees health and safety operations, student discipline processes, liaison partnerships, specialized student support services, and designated administrative functions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.

Conduct evaluations and provide leadership support for designated school principals and administrative staff.
Oversee external operations, including serving as the administrative coordinator for school picture contracts and photography scheduling.
Lead critical response preparedness, emergency plan updates, and safety protocol execution across all district facilities.
Supervise district nursing staff and direct student health policies and procedures.
Serve as the primary administrative contact for School Resource Officers (SROs), local law enforcement, Child Protective Services (CPS), and the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS).
Lead the District Crisis Team to manage emergency situations and deliver post-crisis support.
Manage suspension and expulsion procedures, ensuring adherence to district policies and legal requirements.
Oversee student support systems, including positive behavior frameworks, anti-bullying initiatives, and mental health resources.
Ensure district-wide compliance with Section 504 plans for eligible students.
Act as the designated liaison for McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance and Foster Care student supports.
Analyze and manage Graduation/Dropout (GAD) data to improve student retention and success outcomes.
Coordinate Michigan Care Improvement Registry (MCIR) tracking and reporting requirements.
Monitor student attendance patterns and lead district interventions for chronic absenteeism and truancy.
Coordinate district athletics programs and address related compliance or operational matters.
Serve as the central administrator for resolving student and parent complaints, working toward equitable solutions.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Directly conducts performance evaluations and provides administrative leadership for assigned school principals. Directly oversees school nurses and school safety personnel. Leads and directs the crisis team for emergency response and management. Supervises operations and compliance for key student support designations.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Master's Degree in Educational Leadership, Educational Administration, or a related field (Administrator Certificate required).
Demonstrated leadership experience in school administration, student services, or central office supervision.
Strong knowledge of federal and state educational regulations (Section 504, McKinney-Vento, health codes), crisis management expertise, and excellent conflict resolution and communication skills.

LANGUAGE SKILL:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, safety rules, or governmental regulations. Ability to write comprehensive reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond clearly and concisely to questions from the Board of Education, employee groups, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, and volume. Ability to analyze complex financial data, construct projections, and apply mathematical concepts to practical operational and budgeting situations.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables simultaneously.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Demonstrated ability to effectively use modern technology tools and web-based applications for operational management. Proven success in maintaining effective working relationships with students, staff, labor units, and the broader school community. Must possess excellent listening, multi-tasking, and organizational skills.
