We're looking for an experienced Human Resources Generalist who enjoys building strong teams, fostering a positive workplace culture, and ensuring compliance while supporting employees throughout every stage of their employment.

Position Summary

The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for managing the day-to-day HR functions of the company, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, compliance, payroll, benefits administration, leave management, and workplace safety. This role serves as a trusted resource for employees and managers, helping cultivate a supportive, compliant, and engaged workplace.

Responsibilities

Recruitment & Onboarding

Coordinate the full-cycle recruitment process with department managers.
Create and maintain job descriptions.
Post job openings and manage candidate communications.
Coordinate interviews and assist with candidate selection.
Prepare offer letters and employment documentation.
Lead new hire onboarding and orientation.
Coordinate required new hire training, including harassment prevention, workplace violence prevention, Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP), safety training, and food safety certifications.

Employee Relations

Serve as the primary HR contact for employee questions and concerns.
Partner with managers to provide guidance on performance management, disciplinary actions, employee reviews, and employee development.
Conduct or support workplace investigations and conflict resolution.
Foster a respectful, inclusive, and positive work environment.

Compliance & Leave Administration

Ensure compliance with company policies and all applicable California and federal employment laws.
Administer employee leaves of absence, including CFRA, FMLA, workers' compensation, and personal leaves.
Maintain employee records and HR documentation.
Track required employee training and ensure timely completion of compliance requirements.

Safety & Workers' Compensation

Coordinate workplace safety programs in partnership with the Safety Manager.
Organize and facilitate safety meetings and training.
Report workplace injuries and coordinate care, return-to-work programs, light-duty assignments, and lost-time cases.

Payroll & Benefits

Process bi-weekly payroll accurately and on schedule.
Coordinate timecard approvals with department supervisors.
Process paid time off requests and maintain attendance records.
Assist employees with benefit enrollment and answer questions regarding available benefit programs.

Communication & Language Support

Provide verbal and written interpretation and translation between English and Spanish to support effective communication across the organization.

Qualifications

3–5 years of experience as a Human Resources Generalist or in a similar HR role.
Strong working knowledge of California and federal employment laws.
Experience administering CFRA, FMLA, workers' compensation, and other employee leave programs.
Experience processing payroll and administering employee benefits.
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP, or equivalent) is preferred.
Bilingual in English and Spanish (written and verbal) required.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HRIS/payroll systems.

This is a newly created position at Rancho Gordo, offering an opportunity to help shape and grow our Human Resources function as our company continues to evolve.

This position may be part-time or full-time, depending on the experience and availability of the selected candidate. We require a minimum of 20 hours per week onsite at our Napa warehouse, with flexibility in scheduling.
