Note:this position is part of our Employee/Health Insurance Benefits Department and is responsible for health benefits and wellness-related items.

Purpose Statement
The job of Wellness & Benefits Specialist is done for the purpose/s of developing, implementing, and managing employee wellness programs and initiatives; providing implementation support, measurement standards, and revisions, as needed, that incorporate applicable best practices with proven outcomes. Employee wellness programs encompass the full scope of employee benefit programs, including health, pharmacy, dental, vision, financial and retirement savings, etc. This position oversees the work of site wellness coordinators, promotes and supports utilization of the employee near-site clinic, and participates in the District Wellness Leader Planning Committee. In addition, this position supports benefits-related projects, communications, and initiatives to enhance employee understanding of benefits, including assisting employees with benefit information and questions, resolving benefit-related issues, and supporting accurate benefit records, contributing to a comprehensive approach to employee well-being.

Essential Functions

Collaborates with a variety of providers and partners (e.g. medical, pharmacy, dental, vision, retirement, EAP, financial, etc.) for the purpose of building partnerships and gathering pertinent information to support the employee wellness program.
Collaborates with other departments and staff (e.g. HR, Health Services, Mental Health Specialists, etc.) for the purpose of implementing and maintaining services and/or programs.
Designs and implements district evidence-based employee wellness program and events (e.g. promotion, tracking participation, education, interpretation of data, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring programming and events promote and educate on wellness.
Designs services and marketing materials (e.g. scope of services, program expansion, etc.) for the purpose of implementing and growing the employee wellness program.
Maintains a variety of manual and electronic files and/or records for the purpose of providing up-to-date reference and complying with regulatory requirements and established guidelines.
Maintains a variety of benefit information (e.g. provider contracts, employee records, employee census, etc.) for the purpose of providing an up-to-date reference and supporting accurate benefit administration.
Maintains confidentiality for the purpose of ensuring employee safety and privacy.
Monitors the employee wellness program (e.g. program budgets, evaluating, measuring, and reporting, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring that performance outcomes are achieved within budget, department, and district objectives.
Participates in meetings, workshops, trainings, and seminars for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
Prepares a wide variety of written materials (e.g. reports, memos, letters, marketing materials, contracts, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and/or conveying information.
Processes documents and materials (e.g. assessments, evaluations, informational materials, contracts, etc.) for the purpose of disseminating information to appropriate parties.
Supports various benefits-related processes (e.g. open enrollment, billing system updates, enrollment additions and updates, testing, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring accurate and timely administration of employee benefit programs.
Provides clinical support and clinical knowledge support for the purpose of ensuring appropriate information and resources are provided.
Researches a variety of information (e.g. funding sources, community resources, best practices, etc.) for the purpose of securing alternate funding for services and/or delivering services in compliance with established guidelines.
Responds to inquiries for the purpose of resolving problems, providing information and/or referring to appropriate personnel.
Oversees building employee wellness leaders (e.g. trains, mentors, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring distribution of program information and encouragement of employee participation.
Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

Experience: Job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is required.
Education: Bachelor's degree in job-related area.
