As an Advanced Practitioner Provider (NP/PA) in Sleep Medicine at Salem Health, you will deliver comprehensive, evidence-based care that drives strong clinical outcomes, patient satisfaction, and operational efficiency. Working collaboratively with internal and external medical and business partners, you will play a key role in improving the health and overall well-being of patients across sleep populations.
In this role, you’ll diagnose and manage a wide range of acute and chronic sleep conditions while also guiding patients through evaluation and treatment for complex sleep disorders. You’ll practice in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment that values independent clinical judgment and partnership across care teams. From optimizing respiratory function to helping patients reclaim restorative sleep, your work directly enhances safety, cognitive function, chronic disease management, and overall quality of life. What you'll do
- Evaluate, diagnose, treat, and actively manage patients 18 years and older with sleep disorders in the outpatient setting.
- Evaluate patients with complex sleep concerns by taking detailed sleep histories, performing focused exams, and identifying patterns that point to sleep‑related breathing issues, insomnia, circadian disturbances, and other sleep disorders.
- Order sleep studies, including polysomnograms and home sleep apnea tests, to understand exactly what is happening during a patient’s sleep and guide evidence‑based treatment.
- Outpatient responsibilities include clinical new patient consultations, plan of care development, follow-up visits, handling urgent patient requests and coordinating/conducting and evaluating diagnostic testing.
- Develop personalized treatment plans that address both symptoms and underlying causes, helping patients improve their energy, safety, and long‑term health.
- Follow patients over time, monitoring progress, adjusting treatments, and celebrating milestones as sleep quality and over all well‑being improve.
- Work closely with a collegial, multidisciplinary team, collaborating with sleep physicians, respiratory therapists, sleep technologists, primary care providers, and behavioral health specialists.
- Educate patients and families about sleep health, empowering them with the knowledge and tools to manage symptoms and prevent long‑term complications.
Required qualifications
- Possess a Master’s Degree or higher in Nursing, or in a field deemed to be equivalent by the Oregon Board of Nursing.
- Have satisfactorily completed a Nurse Practitioner Program recognized by the Oregon Board of Nursing.
- Hold a current, unencumbered Registered Nurse license in the State of Oregon.
- Hold valid, unencumbered Nurse Practitioner national certification issued American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or National Certification Corporation (NCC), or an equivalent Medicare/Medicaid approved certifying body or be actively seeking certification and obtain the same in the specialty area requested within 24 months of privileges being granted at Salem Hospital.
- Hold DEA certification.
- Minimum of 2 years experience in relevant setting.
