Full Job Description

Paris Baguette | Downtown San Antonio

Paris Baguette is seeking an experienced, energetic, and hands-on Assistant Manager to join our high-performing team. Our café is located inside the historic Gunter Hotel in the heart of downtown San Antonio, directly across the street from the Majestic Theatre. This high-visibility location serves hotel guests, theatergoers, downtown professionals, local customers, and visitors throughout the city.

The Assistant Manager will support daily café operations, lead associates during assigned shifts, and help maintain strong standards for guest service, product quality, cleanliness, food safety, and team performance.

This is an active leadership position. The ideal candidate is comfortable working alongside the team and stepping into bakery, barista, cashier, and guest-service responsibilities as needed.

What You’ll Do

Support the General Manager with the day-to-day operation of the café.
Lead opening, closing, and assigned shifts.
Provide direction, support, and accountability to team members.
Deliver friendly, efficient, and professional guest service.
Maintain a visible leadership presence during high-volume periods.
Assist associates with bakery, barista, register, stocking, and cleaning responsibilities.
Ensure products are fresh, properly displayed, fully stocked, and presented according to company standards.
Monitor café cleanliness, organization, food safety, and sanitation.
Help train and develop new and existing team members.
Delegate shift responsibilities and follow up to ensure completion.
Assist with inventory, ordering, product availability, and waste control.
Support cash-handling procedures and complete shift-related paperwork.
Respond to guest concerns calmly and professionally.
Communicate staffing, operational, and performance concerns to the General Manager.
Help maintain a respectful, productive, and team-focused work environment.

What We’re Looking For

Previous leadership experience in a bakery, café, restaurant, coffee shop, or quick-service environment.
Bakery or barista experience is strongly preferred.
Restaurant, hospitality, or quick-service experience is also welcomed.
Strong communication and guest-service skills.
Ability to lead by example and work effectively alongside the team.
Ability to stay organized and make sound decisions in a high-volume environment.
Dependable attendance and reliable transportation.
Comfortable providing feedback and holding team members accountable.
Basic knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and cash-handling procedures.
Ability to adapt quickly to changing operational and staffing needs.

Schedule Expectations

The café operates between 5:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m.

Candidates must be comfortable working scheduled shifts within those operating hours, including:

Early-morning opening shifts
Day and evening shifts
Closing shifts
Weekends as needed
Holidays based on business needs

Schedule flexibility is required. The Assistant Manager may be scheduled for different shifts depending on operational needs and team coverage.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
Ability to bend, reach, lift, and carry café products and supplies.
Ability to work in a busy bakery and café environment.
Ability to lift up to 30 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
