Full Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Surgical Technician to join our prestigious ambulatory surgical center.

Responsibilities:
1. Surgical Preparation: Prepare the operating room and arrange surgical equipment, instruments, and supplies for neurosurgical procedures. Ensure all equipment is properly sterilized and functional, adhering to strict aseptic techniques.

2. Patient Care: Assist in patient positioning, draping, and skin preparation, maintaining patient safety and comfort throughout the surgical process.

3. Instrumentation and Assistance: Hand neurosurgeons appropriate instruments during surgery and anticipate their needs. Maintain a sterile field during procedures, promptly providing additional equipment or supplies as required.

4. Imaging Support: Familiarity with neurosurgical imaging technology and the ability to assist with intraoperative imaging, such as MRI, CT, or fluoroscopy, if necessary.

5. Surgical Team Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with the surgical team, including neurosurgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, to ensure seamless coordination during procedures.

6. Emergency Preparedness: Stay prepared for unexpected situations by being well-versed in emergency protocols and assisting in critical situations that may arise during surgery.

7. Equipment Maintenance: Responsible for cleaning, sterilizing, and maintaining surgical instruments and equipment, as well as ensuring their proper functioning.

8. Documentation: Accurately document surgical events, including instrument counts, patient data, and other relevant information as required by clinic protocols and regulatory standards.

9. Quality Assurance: Comply with clinic policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines to maintain a safe and sterile surgical environment.

10. Professional Development: Stay updated with advancements in neurosurgery techniques and technology, attending relevant workshops, seminars, and conferences to enhance your skills and knowledge.

Requirements:
1. Education and Certification: Possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Surgical Technician program and relevant certification as a Surgical Technologist is required.

2. Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience working as a Surgical Technician in a neurosurgery setting or related field.

3. Knowledge: In-depth understanding of neurosurgery procedures, equipment, and instruments. Familiarity with neurosurgical imaging technology is advantageous.

4. Technical Skills: Proficiency in setting up and maintaining a sterile field, handling surgical instruments, and assisting during surgical procedures.

5. Attention to Detail: Excellent attention to detail and ability to work accurately under pressure to ensure patient safety and positive surgical outcomes.

6. Team Player: Strong collaborative skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a surgical team.

7. Communication: Good communication skills, both verbal and written, to relay critical information during surgery and document surgical events accurately.

8. Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and handle emergency situations calmly and efficiently.

9. Physical Stamina: Capable of standing for extended periods, lifting heavy objects, and maintaining focus during long surgical procedures.

10. Professionalism: Demonstrate a professional and compassionate demeanor when interacting with patients, families, and fellow healthcare professionals.
