Full Job Description

Job Summary

The Resident Advocate provides support, supervision, and advocacy for clients in a 7-bed primary substance use residential treatment facility. This role ensures a safe, structured, and supportive environment for residents and assists in maintaining compliance with program policies, licensing regulations, and best practices for substance use treatment.

We are currently hiring for a full-time Sunday- Thursday evening shift (3:00 PM–11:30 PM).

Key Responsibilities

1. Resident Support

Serve as a point of contact and resource for residents, ensuring their safety and well-being.
Provide encouragement and guidance in alignment with residents’ treatment goals.
Respond to resident needs and concerns promptly and professionally.

2. Facility Oversight

Conduct regular rounds to ensure the facility is secure, clean, and orderly.
Address minor facility concerns or escalate maintenance needs to appropriate personnel.
Monitor adherence to house rules and policies, providing corrective guidance as necessary.

3. Program Assistance

Assist residents in following daily schedules, including attending therapy sessions, groups, and appointments.
Facilitate or co-facilitate group activities, including life skills workshops and recreational programming.
Support discharge planning by helping residents with transitional tasks such as securing aftercare or housing resources.

4. Documentation & Compliance

Maintain accurate and timely records of resident interactions, incidents, and program activities.
Report critical incidents and follow crisis intervention protocols when necessary.
Ensure compliance with licensing and accreditation standards, including HIPAA regulations.

5. Advocacy & Collaboration

Advocate for residents’ needs and coordinate with clinical and administrative teams to address barriers to recovery.
Build rapport with residents to foster trust and encourage engagement in the recovery process.
Collaborate with external stakeholders, such as families, case managers, and community resources.

6. Self-Administration of Medication

Oversee and document residents’ self-administration of prescribed medications per program policies and state regulations.
Maintain accurate medication logs and ensure medications are stored securely.
Report any discrepancies, concerns, or refusals to the clinical team promptly.

Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or a related field preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 1 year of experience in a behavioral health, substance use, or residential treatment setting preferred.
Knowledge of substance use disorders and recovery models (e.g., 12-Step, harm reduction) is highly desirable.
Skills:
Strong interpersonal, communication, and de-escalation skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Basic computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic health records.
